You'd be better on a Malvern Star

When we moved into our house last year, the previous owners left a low lying cupboard. We didnt want it so we pulled it apart to throw out. While doing this we discovered a whole heap of old news papers stuffed down the back. These were very old as in 1950's Sydney Morning Heralds old. They made interesting reading but I thought this advert was funny, and it relates to us. Its from the 8th of August 1956.

It would be difficult to set the suspension up allowing for the weight of a suit of armour, and it would be futile trying to change gears while wearing gauntlets.

Also, note the upward-turned drop bars? Should he only get a glancing blow with the lance, and accidentally wander into the opponent's path, the bars may act as a secondary gouging device - particularly if the end caps are absent.

I noticed the turned up bars as well. Funny they are advertising it that way.

What I want to know is why the other guy only has a sward, not a joisting stick! Maybe the horseman felt sorry for the dude who turned up to a joisting match on a bicycle and thought he should even it up a little.

Cool Vid, funny that the green guy had an advantage by being on a unicycle. The shield on his back seemed a bit odd.
As for the upturned bars, that seemed to be the common fashion back whenever.
