    Winter riding in Queenstown, NZ?

So I'm booked to be in Queenstown for 5 days mid-August. Normally that would be great, except apparently there's bugger all snow and it's been well north of 0C for the last week or so.

So if I can't get a good gravity fix on skis, are there decent winter riding options there (or is it likely that there's enough snow to close the bike trails even if not enough for good skiing)?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Ask on www.vorb.org.nz

There are a lot of riding options down in Qtown.

Edit - Should have read your post closer. No idea for winter riding.

There is plenty of riding in Queenstown and Wanaka. Not sure how much gravity orientated winter riding there is though.

In addition to vorb, check on the Queenstown MTB club - queenstownmtb

    Thanks.

I think they got 30cm of fresh snow overnight, with more to come this week, so I'll maybe get some skiing in after all...

A load of fresh snow arrived like you said, however if you still want to ride there will be a decent amout. Go and see the bike guys in R&R Sport, or Outside Sports (I think Vertigo close for the winter) and ask them where to ride. 7 mile should be good to go even if the snow is fairly low.
