    New question here. NZ riding

Is December a good time to ride in NZ? Planning a trip and bringing my trailbike. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    Happy trails!

December is not a bad time at all to ride a variety of tracks. Sand based tracks may be a bit more slippery but overall it's a good time and lots of riders out there. Enjoy.

December will be sweet, you can find quite a bit of info if you head over to www.vorb.org.nz and do a search there.

Thanks. Planning on visiting for a week or two. I've got a lot of research to do. I like technical all-mountain riding. Any suggestions?
    Happy trails!

December is just coming into summer here so perfect for riding although it can rain a lot too.

The south island is probably going to suit your riding style but central plateau in the North has plenty. You will get recommendations for Rotorua (not all technical AM really but awesome all the same, Wellington has some great riding ..there is somewhere to ride just about everywhere in NZ.
Pick up a couple of books and go riding (a week or 2 won't be enough)
Classic Mountain Bike rides by the Kennett brothers and for the South Mountain Biking South by Dave Mitchell Have fun!

Thanks! I'll probably pick up the aforementioned book. I've also been checking out a lot of sites and trying to find video of some of the rides. The web and literature are great resources, but when it comes to mountain biking, sometimes, I find it best to get the goods from the locals. Otago looks promising.

Please, chime in on the top trails for all mountain type riding in North and South Island.
    Happy trails!

Also try asking around on vorb.org.nz.

Otherwise, Central Otago, Nelson, Rotorua, Wellington....tons of biking around! Enjoy.

December should be a great time to come over and ride.

Rotorua is a great place to ride (I live here) but I wouldnt class it as all mountain type riding, it is probably somewhere between XC and all mountain depending on which tracks you ride and your skill level.

The ride rotorua is a good website for info and lots of videos on you tube, http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RVqS7JVsvc or this may be more to your taste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp_I6...eature=related

Have fun whatever you decide to do

You've got to ride Craigieburn in Canterbury.
