    Cyclocross racing 27th June

    G'day all,

A note to let you all know that a cyclocross race will be held at the Brunswick Velodrome this Sunday. If youv'e not seen or been involved, its a hoot! Its the urban racing where the spectators have as much fun (if not more) the the bike races.
As I understand, there will be a MTB class racing and a cyclocross class race.
For details may I suggest you contact Damien at the Cog Bicycle Cafe on 9736 4999 as I'm not sure of where else to go. For directions go to:-

    Enjoy!

Still undecided. Whilst the format is great fun, it's great pain as well, as I'm not really suited to the sprint stuff. Anything over three hours is good for me. Pennies are tight too.

Might just come along and watch.

Well the race was race and the fun it was had. And the mud was thick.
I meant to check on the length of the course and/or count the number of laps I did, but I did neither . Think I did about 5 laps and I covered 14.5km in 45 minutes.
The course was within and around the outside of the Brunswick velodrome. Not too hilly but plenty of oportunity to create lots of switchbacks and obsticles to dismount, jump over and remount.
Talking of obsticles, one of them caught me out. I attemted to bunny hop one at high speed and got thrown over the bars with the bike bouncing on me. Not all bad though, the incident got me a prize for the most spectacular 'dismount'.
The cyclocross guys put on a great display of speed, endurance and dismount and re-mounting.
Tried to upload some picks, but it won't!

Na, all good thanks stevob. Nothing a hot dog and party pie couldn't sort out. Just enough bruising to have something to talk about.

The MTBer did one less lap than the throughbreeds and there was a total of 70 riders. Not too bad considering the conditions. I would expect an extra twenty next round with word of mouth spreading it.

Carver. Well done. Perfect OTB trying to be a smart arse jumping the hurdles
