    Cup Day Ride at Silvan

Who's interested in a Melbourne Cup Day ride at Silvan?

Let's say 8am from Cog Bike Cafe in Mount Evelyn.

Newbies welcome. It'll be a good opportunity to get to know the trails in this area. No-one will get left behind, so if you think you're not at your best, don't worry.

The ride will be about 3 or so hours, so bring enough water.

    I want to climb them.

Maybe she could go for a wander up the Warby Trail while you ride? Then hook up afterwards for lunch

I've only been to the Youies once, and unsure when I'll return, but I'll let you know.

Damn, I live in the North and could go either way! Might have to consult some riding buddies, but theres a fair chance we'll be seen around the Silvan area.

Though I'm not much of an early starter, so might show up later if we make it out there. Dont be a stranger if you see me, come and say g'day!
(of course it doesnt apply the other way around coz I'd never catch up to you!)

We never pass another rider without saying g'day and having a chat etc.

    Hey Steve,

We weren't there at 8am, but looks like you just arrived back as we were departing!

We didnt get back till about 4pm, so we either went alot further, or simply went slower. Either way we had a great time. It was pretty wet out there, but the rain held off until the very last bit on the aqueduct trail, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Hope to see you around again soon!

    Hey Tim,

Some of us did a short loop, whilst the others did most of the singletrack and then went up to Olinda and back down, which was about 30-32km or thereabouts. There were a few stops as we had a good sized group of nine riders.

We were absolutely and completely drenched through. Heavy drizzle early and lots of puddles made sure of that.

After that, we had some lunch in Mount Evelyn and then Alias Pauly and I went out and did the new stuff. It was dry out there, but still a little slippery. We had to ride through the creek down the bottom as it was over the road. It went up well over the BB on my bike. We got back to the cars about the same time you got back to yours.

    I want to climb them.
