After being in Darwin for almost two months now, I had finally the chance to hit the trails at Charles Darwin national Park.
It's almost the end of the Rain Season here and by early morning it was raining cats and dogs. However, by 8am or so, it started to clear up pretty good and decided to hit the trails anyway. Wise choice!
I had not much of a clue of what I could find out, but thanks to the info that the DORC guys (DORC – Darwin Off Road Cyclists | Mountain Biking, Trail rides and and adventures in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia) had put together, I headed with a map on my phone and went there.
To my surprise, the track they had put together is really nice, tight and technical, taking advantage of any difference in elevation and turning the place into a maze of interesting trails that will take me some time (and/or guidance) to get a grip on.
I had to walk many a sections but in my defense, it has been a loooong time since I hit some real dirt.
The trails have short steep pitches, rooty climbs, tight turns, tight switchbacks and it's really fun to ride on.
All in all, I loved it and I can't wait to ride there again!!
My bike still keeps a few souvenirs from the trip...
