    Buller Questions

    Planning our first Buller trip

    1. What trails will I be excluded from if I do not have a full face helmet? Buller's site says for "downhill riding" they are compulsory. Will I be excluded from anything else? The chairlift or shuttles?

    2. Suggestions on places to stay? Cheaper is good, close is good

    Thanks!

And, what's this "end of season" that keeps getting mentioned? We were hoping to go in Feb '13. Many deals/quotes say until end of season '12. Thanks again!

    hey Ginga,

Its highly recommended that full face helmets are worn for the downhill runs such as International and ABOM as these are the main advanced downhill runs. All of the other trails at Buller can be done with a standard cross country helmet. I believe it will be fine to catch the chairlift with just a standard helmet as they let bush walkers and sightseers use the chair lift as well.

Just a quick not on the chairlift: The chairlifts only run from Boxing Day - the end of January therefore if you head up in Feb you will miss them.

We will be running one of our weekend shuttle trips to Mt Buller on the weekend of the 22-24th Feb if you were interested in shuttles (you do not require a full face as we will be shuttling downhillers and cross-country riders.

We offer a couple of different options -
    - All transport from Torquay/Geelong/Melbourne, accom., food, shuttles all weekend and return transport

    OR

    - A choice of 1 or 2 days of JUST shuttles.

There are plenty of great accomodation places on the mountain in ski lodges. Some to check out are: Gliss lodge (if your after cheap and basic) and skilib.

I hope all of this info helps. If you have any other question feel free to email me ride@bluedirt.com.au or call on 0409161903. Alternatively if you want some Mt Buller info/maps/ and details about our upcoming trip there jump on our website Blue Dirt Mountain Biking.

Happy to help out however we can.

    Hey Holf,

Blue Dirt will be doing several shuttle weekends at Mt Buller over the next few months (until June) servicing the DH runs and also another vehicle for any XC/AM riders wanting to transfer over to stonefly, deletite, Klingsporn and more.

Our next shuttle weekend at Mt Buller will be the 23rd 24th Feb.

Unfortunately this will not be a regular weekend thing however we will try to do it every few weekends if people are interested.

If you want to stay in the loop of when we announce out next weekend dates and more check out our website (www.bluedirt.com.au) for more details or follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/bluedirtmtb) to stay up to date with new shuttle weekends and date announcements.

Hope you can get on board soon.
