Any riding near Wanaka during august?

Hello everyone, Im a fellow biker from Mexico, traveling next week to NZ and, being it winter over there, I was wondering if that puts a stop for the riding season, or if I could find a bike rental, trail guide sort of thing in or near Wanaka.

Last time I was in Wanaka I rode the Plantation Trails. It was late September and the timing worked out so I was able to ride on a sunny day with temps in the mid 50's. The trails were all in good shape even though there had been some rain and snow the previous few days. Bring layers. Parts of NZ can get surprisingly cold in the winter.

I checked with all 3 or 4 of the bike/outdoor shops in town. The places that rent the nicer bikes sell off most of their fleet at the end of the season, so my selection was limited. I rented a well maintained, middle of the line Trek hardtail from Racer's Edge. It was a 15 or 20 minute ride from the shop to the trails and the rental comes with a free trail map.

I used to do the Hokey-Pokey but then I turned myself around.
