oHHHH nice lighting! I woke up about a couple hours early to find it 77 degrees out here in Tempe. Surely the anticipation of riding in this will keep me up...

I was out there with the with a few others last night and I was looking forward to getting rained on but it never happened, the storm was just coming in too slow. It sure put on a pretty show though.

i was int he middle of this at 930 last night. not the most wise of decisions. satyed at the ramadas until the lightening wasnt causing the hair on my arms to stand. struck very close alot. took the road back tothe car at walgreens on elliot and was dowsed by cars all the way home. one dude on purpose, white cavelier, probably slightly inbred behind the wheel. bike smelled like feet this morning, needed a bath. im gonna watch the weather channel before i go out again...

    Warpaint

The storm dumped almost an inch of rain on South Mountain in less than 15 minutes. The wash near Warpaint was running about 5 feet deep and about 60 feet wide at places.

We went there last night and didn't get any pictures to come out, but went back this morning and you could see where the wash overflowed the banks in some areas and went about 40 feet beyond the bank.

Here's a few pics. One shows where the water went above the drainage tubes under the bridge by warpaint. Another shows the debris as high as my kids. Sorry about the quality, they were taken with a cellphone.

Not a good night for a ride in the Lost Dog area for sure. I sat in my back yard and watched the show as the storm came over the McDowells .. There was a lightening strike fire somewhere in the area, I could smell it.

jeez, thats a pretty big wash; would have liked to see that flowin. All this rain should make for some new interesting lines on the trail.

btw the grass field where that wash ends (36th and ranch circle) by CMS was flooded with nothing but dirt and big rocks. as i drove by you saw the groundskeepers scratchin their head trying to figure out how they were gonna clean it all up lol

    YOu got some Cahones!

I made it from my house to the entry gate at SoMtn at about 8:45 pm before soma major lightening and thunder hit the ramada area. I turned tail and bailed out of there, wish I would have stayed though.

i decided to check the papago area for "damage" and found many of the trails pretty eroded and some with deep, muddy puddles. it must've rained a lot here too.

pic#1 the road inside the west side park, in front of the two big buttes (with the amphitheater).
pic#2 a small puddle with the same butte's reflection.

the humidity was high, but the temp was nice at 7:30am. i think more of the same is coming tonite and friday night. gotta luv the monsoon season!

Yeah, last night was sweet. I was on Desert Classic when I got poured on. It wasn't that bad considering that there was no wind at all when I started the ride and it was hot as hell around 645. Sweet lightning pictures.
