XPOSTING: Captain Ahab, Moab, UT [video]

Officially opened in March of 2013, Captain Ahab is posted for one-way traffic only and is labeled as double-black diamond (for experienced riders). This ride has a mix of low-speed rock crawling and climbing, as well as some higher speed section. The trail is accessed via Amasa Back and fairly short in length - even as a loop. But it certainly is filled with fun sections!

I wouldn't call it doubleblack. It's certainly an advanced one-way flow trail but nothing on it is too hard. Rockstacker has far tougher and committing moves with high penalty for failure. My hat's off to the trail builders. It's an awesome bit of construction.

    Nice vid

Blackblack, even here in BC is rare; that's why I asked. I've ridden RStacker and Jacksons and they are black; even thos exposed corners on Jacksons I'd call BB; but designating a whole trail BB is new to me. And the vid did not show extreme ledges/drops etc etc; so I'll look fwd to riding it in November. Thanks 4 the feedback; it is great to see the BLM aiding and abetting in Moab. Anyone coming to Southern BC in June/July give me a pm. view Merritt mountain Biking Association; but that's just my home town; there's so much here; just npot year 'round.
    cheers. TS

That DB rating is as silly as people calling hangover technical. Both worth riding, but the spode ratings are stooopid.

It gave me a vibe of Joe Satriani from years past. I didn't love it but didn't hate it. Then when I saw you composed it all I had to give you a tip of the hat. Excellent work. Not my cup of tea but anyone that can work all the instruments, or at least throw the loops together, and make it all sound good has a skillset not many do.

And the video was good, too. You two definitely made it look much easier than I'm sure it was. I have the tendency to make things look harder, if not impossible.

What's on the opposite side of the helmet from the GoPro? Battery pack or counter weight?

Great vid! Also curious about the helmet jig, I'm assuming you used a Hero 3 and am amazed at the steadiness of the video

    Thanks, guys!

The helmet rigs are a prototypes of a system that Tracey has in the process of patenting (PAF). As soon as that patent is secure, I can provide plenty of details. That sounds kinda lame, but we have to consider the CYA.

Not Hero 3s. Just Hero 2s. In my opinion and until web hosting sites and infrastructure data rates improve signifigantly, the 3s are really overkill.

That was not intended. I'm sorry, video is great and opinions on music are kind of like buttholes, it doesn't matter that it's not my taste. I didn't realize it was your vid either so once again I apologize.
