Anyone interested in joining me for a preride of the course Sunday morning? I am planning on riding the entire 50 course and taking about 5 hours to do it. I'd like to get started around 7-7:30 so I can make it to Zeke's for some wagon wheel pancakes after.
It was good! The course seemed a bit more loose than last year in places but over all it's in good shape. I'm going to take it easy all this week and especially Friday. I may just go out for a spin on the road bike. See you this weekend.
Speaking of taking it easy... unfortunately my spill I took last last Friday pre-riding the 25 Whiskey has left my shoulder for the worse. I'm still doing the race, but have been having a tough time with my right shoulder. May not be so bad if I were on a geared bike, but pulling up hard on my bars when I climb on the SS gives it fits. I have a feeling my pre-ride time will be faster than my race day time. Oh well, just gonna go out and have some fun! Though I have a feeling I'll be roading it for a while other than the Whiskey.
5 hours, damn that sounds fast to me, so how much of that 5 hours is the jaunt down and back up the skull valley road, in other words - how does that time break out to the 28 mile Whiskey 25 course, and how much time is the extra spur that makes it the '50'?

For me, the ride down takes about 25 minutes and back up takes about an hour, so add about 1.5 hours to your 25 time to get the total, more if you are slower than me, less if you are faster Pros do the 50 faster than I (and many others) can do the 25.....

Sweet, so I did the 25 in 3.5 hours last week, now if I can get the endurance to run the full 50 I'd be near the 5 hours. Something to aim for right. LOL - that's a far sight longer than running the 25 though.
