What kind of rider are you? A Survey

Given the recent conflagration that seems to stem in part from different modes of enjoying the same thing....a bike with knobby tires....I realized that I have no clue the makeup of the folks on this board. I've included a survey here that I hope will give me, and other folks, a better insight as to who our interwebs neighbors are on this chat board.

*****Note****** I've enabled the user to choose more than one answer becuase we generallty dabble in other aspects of the sport as well.....please choose your primary mode of riding and then your second favorite only.....this will hopefully allow for some insight into what makes the AZ board tick.

I recogonize that this is far from scientific, is full of holes and will invariably lump some user groups into one catagory while excluding another....this is not my intent. My intent is again, to gain greater insight into what makes us all get up real early in the morning and go ride.

    Ride On!

And I'll go first.....I went with Enduro as my primary, with the generic "Trail/AM" as a second.

Everyone knows I dabble in the dark side, but enjoy climbing too much to be fully committed.....that's my 2 cents.

I just did the survey (endurance 1st, xc close2nd), this should be fun to see where the chips fall! I think I have a decent idea of who does what even though I have ridden with only a dozen or so people on the board. We'll see!!

I voted endurance and AM as those are what I end up riding most of the time, but I'll do it all as well. I haven't done any serious XC racing in years, but that's not to say that I won't try my hand at it again. And I still enjoy the DH scene once in a while.

    Thx...Doug

@Clock - you're a man of many tires.....I think we all pretty much like it all......some of us just don't do it all.

Choosing like on two does not imply that you dislike the others.

AM/XC and DH for me. I probably do more xc especially in the winter. Ride 4-5 days a week xc and shuttle sat/sun. I used to race the MBAA series (4 years worth) back in the early nineties when I was 14! but now only race the occasional DH in Bootleg.

I voted for all as I have bikes for each.

    No DJ option?

So by voting for all....you effectively did not vote for anything in terms of poll result interpretation....good job

As for DJ....I strongly considered it...but then found myself parsing out finer and finer catagories until the list became unmanagable.....so I lumped stuff.....in this case, I would refer folks to "hucking your meat"

I didn't see the category I fall in; "Read about riding on the internet more that I actually ride." Side note, Rode Javelina this morning counter clockwise from the 46th parking lot on the SS. Very cool route!........Drew

Mostly trail/AM because it has the most variety in every ride, it's also available wherever there's a trail (duh) or a mountain (duh).

Trail/AM for this guy, trying to build up for an enduro ride. One day I'll be there, so it's more of a wish list right now, but I know I'll dig it!! I really enjoy that sense of accomplishment at the top of a long climb.

Trail/AM for me but would like to start doing some DH. Just waiting for some extra cash flow to grab another ride more suitable for DH.

i'm same with clockwork. ride everything, anytime, anywhere, and try my best at two wheels. my (vote) main passion is dh/jump lines. seems the more i rotate my styles the better i get at dh. a full stable of options makes everything on two wheels more enjoyable. i also have respect for everyone on two wheels no matter the disipline.

Does the spread of responses surprise anyone so far? I'm not too surprised, however I figured I'd see more XC in there.......

My only surpirse really is how splintered "riding a bike" can be. I still don't know the differece between AM, FR, and DH.

Can a guy on 2 hardtails even check AM?

    I'm thinking, XC/AM/enduro....oh who am I kidding....Roadie!

I love National and that's all I've got to say about that.

No option for me .. I'm XC , like it fast but not always smooth. More of a casual rider doing it because it keeps me in better shape that beer and pool rafts (not that there is anything wrong with beer and pool rafts) and i enjoy getting out ... chances of me ever seeing a podium are zip.

    Casual XC.

Does pedaling a downhill bike up the lookout road count as XC?
I like everything except racing XC, that's too much work.
