    Idea! weekend globe shuttles

Wanted to see if anyone is up for some shuttles up in globe? Really only interested in shuttling freight train or ice house with a possible sixshooter if done early in the day.

Post up if you want to join.

Nice I would be down for prescott if you get those racks and drive. Not taking my truck up that way until I make sure my new shift module holds up and it wasn't a deeper prob.

I'll defer to Jeff on this, but Mingus may be a bad idea given the soaking we've had in the last two days.

We would like to check out the Icehouse trail at a pace that would rival the O.J. Simpson "slow-speed" chase. Not expecting anyone to ride with us just need shuttling to the top of the hill, and have a truck to shuttle others to the top of the hill.

We will likely be there most of the day, but because it is a about a 2 hour drive for us (N. Phoenix) it would be easier for us to start at 9 am.

So if we get there at 9 pick up 2 or 3 riders and take them to the top and drop them off so they can take a run. Then we drive back to the bottom and leave our car there and wait for those people to come down and drive us to the top, or something like that?

That would work great so everyone that gets up there with us can take a run down .After that your vehicle would stay down all day until you guys were ready to leave.

How many bikes can you fit across the tailgate? is it a full size bed or stepside? I can get 6 easy on mine with a tight fit maybe 8-9

It's a full sized truck with a rack that can hold 5 bikes upright so they don't bang into each other, or if you put them over the tailgate I'm guessing 8-10 bikes. Also I have a king cobra hitch rack that can hold 2 additional bikes.

It's an access cab, so you can squish 3 or 4 people inside the back seat as long they are not too tall or covered in dirt

I would have a receiver hitch mounted on then weld up a simple rack, i can put you it touch with a couple of peeps who could hook you up with a quality rack. Everyone i ride with has a homemade rack, mine's even made out of aluminum and mounts on the trunk. Although it will only hold 3 bikes.

Nice then were covered for that first run. Also my guess is we wouldn't make it down until 9:15-9:30 at our normal pickup off kellner

No its about 1/2 mile down the road from the T togo up to the top. There is a dirt pull off on the south side of the road . There is also a gate with a private road sign on it

A damn fine fay on the mountain. Had to been on of the best days on the mountain as far as experiences and of course ripping trails.

Perfect temps tacky first run, takier second run, messy but extreamly fun rideable slop, riding in a downpour and riding in drizzle. Lots and lots of fun . A few of us got 5 runs and others took it easy with a couple runs. Great riding with everyone .
toll for the day was 1 ice house and 4 freight trains.

Anyone want to ride tomorrow? Will be very tacky in the morning

Agreed in the many years of riding the pinals today was flatout awesome. Felt like the shore with all the rain/moisture fog low clouds and way slippery gnar in the canyon. Ripping freight in the pouring rain was fun as hell .

Latest I am willing to leave is 8:30-9:30 that would still allow 4 runs or so for the day. 40% chance of rain today means nice cool tacky conditions.

We hit sixshooter on the way home from Candy this weekend. Awesome work up there!

There was 1 tree that went down recently towards the bottom, didnt have time to clear it on that run.

Nice! It doesn't take long for the trees to fall on sixer through the year. There is 2 down on icehouse again also . One up top which can be ridden past on the left and one towards the bottom thats wedged between tress. Both will be easy to move just need to carry the hand saw down on the next run.

Anyone up for any action this week sometime?

How long does it take to shuttle Six Shooter total, drive and ride? Where is the best place to park and which FR road to you take to the top?

I say an hr if you have never been and haven't driven the mt before. Best place to park is the ccc camp, also best to take the road down once you reach it . instead of following the trail across the road.

Actually its better to ride with someone who has done this before as I have seen many groups get lost or endup far away from their pickup. Also this is not the time of year to ride sixer unless it is early in the day as the main hike abike is brutal with 80 degree temps and 100% humidity.

Look at the map on page one to get more info

Might do both sat and sunday. Working on a canopy for the back to keep riders dry during the drive up. High for sat. in globe is 83 so it will be in the 60's up top.

would also like to go sometime this week if not to ride at least to do some more maintance.

I'm going out of town on Thursday for a bit, but might be able to get up to globe on Wednesday if not just to help clear some dead fall. Since I'm gonna be biking all vacation it's gonna be a little hard to talk 'the boss' into letting me ride all day on Wednesday though...

this is the list and days each person can ride so far. Weather for sat. is 83 for a high in globe so it will be 60 on the moutain. Sunday is 90 in town with a temp of about 65 on the mountain. Good chance for morning and afternoon showers each day so be prepared. That will not stop us from riding at all. Would like to make saturday myself but will got either or depending on everyone else.

We would start as early as possible so we could get lots of runs in . Both ice and freight are ripping fast .

Well, I'll be happy to contribute to the gas bill and I know where we are going. I can only ride one day, so I'll be fine with either Sat or Sun.

only difference since last time you ran it as far as route is the last hill that used to be a hike a bike but short is now bypassed. go right instead of left. you should see tire tracks so it would be easy.

Sure their not scared of heat or possibly rain?

I will say I was a bit doubtful about running shuttles past our normal cut towards the end of june early july after my bday. But that's back when all everyone used to run was sixer and in july thats not a fun ride and the heat sitcks in memory. However I am sure many can attest that running freight and icehouse makes for a great day on the mt in the summer . Plus it still has not broke 80 at the peak yet this year.

Another thing after watching the weather pattern up there in the summer they get alot of morning and afternoon showers especially now this time of year which cools it off quick.
