    Upper Cheesegrater -- woo hoo

Chongo Bob and I played around on the techy PMP trails today...and one that we hit was Cheesegrater...all of it. I routinely ride the lower section, but rarely HAB up to the saddle and ride down the entire thing. Well, today we did it...and what a hoot!

It's been well over a year since I've been on the upper section that trail, and the last time I was on my Motolite and walked a good % of it. Today I was on my Iron Horse 6point and we bombed down the entire thing. We both cleaned all of it with the exception of the "switchback of death" (just can't figure out how to make that without taking the cheater line).

Anyway, I forgot how gnarly and fun the upper portion of that trail is. If you haven't tried it, you owe it to yourself to do so. What a blast!

    Thx...Doug

Hats off to you guys, that stuff is the worst terrain in PMP. Somebody should make some good video there, it would be unbelievable. I only dared do the HAB thing there once, I would never think of riding it, although I did think about it the last time I hiked it at night, it doesn't look as bad in the dark!

...but at least it shows the tech.

Doug: I haven't seen anyone clean that really bad switch, with the "cheater" line to the inside-right. I say "cheater" because even that line isn't easy (drag rear brake to slide the back onto the line).

The big drop in the middle of the main line appears to be the only way of making it, but the turn is too sharp.

Ya...neither Bob nor I could figure out any way of clearing that switchback. And you're right -- that cheater line is a doozey. It drops right back into the trough, so if you don't successfully drag your rear wheel around you're going OTB for sure. We both walked it. Maybe next time...

    Thx...Doug

One of my favorite moments on upper cheese is rolling up and over the craggy, pointy rocks after the switchback in the image below. There are lots of lines hidden in that rubble. I plan to ride that more this winter.
