TORCA Millie Trail Day Saturday December 8th

Tucson Offroad Cyclists and Activists will be devoting our attention to one of Tucson's greatest trails. It is also one of Tucson's most neglected trails. With the traffic and monsoonal moisture, this trail is overgrown and beat up. We're hoping to limp it back to health. We will have two crews working as well as a highway trash pick up crew. If you'd like to lend a hand, please join us! We are meeting at Le Buzz cafe on Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway at 8am. Please bring:
    • Hiking Boots
    • Hat
    • Sunscreen
    • Plenty of water
    • Work gloves

We will provide tools and post ride bevees. We will work till mid day or later depending on the group. For more info please visit our facebook page for details and what other shenanigans we've been up to. Also, please like our page to be added to our feed on other trail events, special events, and social rides! Cheers!

TORCA would like to thank everyone who came out and helped with the Millie trail day. We had 15 brave volunteers to help. We had one crew pruning via bicycle from the top. Thanks Team "Muscle Milk", Rob, Ryan and Machete!

Then we had big tool crew also working from the top. Phil (aka the American Eagle, Zoolander, "the bod", "The Sherpa" , "The Future", "How's my hair?"), Vern, Cass and Art put in some drainage, pruned (a ton) and removed a fairly sizeable tonage of loose debris on their 8 mile hike. Yes the whole thing!

The third crew started from the bottom and cleaned up (that's an understatement) loose section after the last tech rock face. It is buffed out and rid of 20 years of loose granite. Nice work Martin, Jeremy, Chris and Juan! Finally we had the ladies of TORCA removing gu packets, beer bottles, beer cans, CO2 cartridges, car parts, and body parts (ok, not really body parts) on the highway between Molino campground and Gordon Hirabayashi. It was a super productive day that some of us haven't fully recovered from.

Next month we'll tone it down a little and we will be working on the Bunny trail in preparation for the "Dirty Bunny" drink fest. Eh em, race... Thanks again to all that came out. We genuinely appreciate your help and elbow grease! We didn't take a ton of pics(we will post some soon), but we invite you to ride Millie. We're certain the trail looks and rides better. Some of the pictures can be seen on our FB page below.

    Ride fast, take chances!

Updated the title to reflect round two on La Milagrosa trail work. We will be finishing up the bottom part with pruning and brushing. In all likelihood, we will hike in from the bottom. We have gained access to the road so we won't waste as.much time on the initial hike in. Hope to get some folks out to work on this Tucson favorite.
