    Suggest a trail please!

I live in far east Mesa, Power and Brown area and am wanting to try out a new trail tomorrow morning. I have been doing the Hawes trails in the mornings for the past couple of weeks and want to try something new. I am looking for suggestions of a good trail for a relative beginner (but not too easy) on my side of the valley. TIA.

Thanks, any links on locations or maps that you might have handy?

Pass Mtn is just minutes up the road from Hawes. It's also a step up from Hawes in the difficulty department. Suggest clockwise. It's around an 8 (or so) mile loop, expect 1.5 to 2.5 hours though. Have fun...you could even ride it from Hawes via Twisted Sister/Wild Horse if you are up for a long ride. (not suggesting that unless you are in good to really good riding shape, and have some decent technical skills)

    Gold Canyon
US 60 east to Kings Ranch Rd., turn left (North) and you should see little brown signs with resident names as well as a sign that says TH (trailhead) at the turns. It will lead you to the Cloudview TH parking lot. Use Google maps and search: East Cloudview Avenue, Gold Canyon, AZ.

    I think there's a map posted, search "K-trail"

K Trail is awesome! There are tons of options that will allow you to customize your ride.

Have you tried the McDowell race loops? They can be fun, especially doe what you are looking for.

I have done the Sport Loop at McDowell at the night rides a couple weeks ago, plan to do Pemberton at the next night ride.

K Trail sounds like fun. Is it hard pack enough that it will be ok to ride after the rain today?

Most everything is crushed granite over hard pack...so, yes it should be fine.

if you like Pemberton you probably won't like Pass mtn.

Not challenging enough. No climbing. No d/h. No techie exposed areas. No high speed bombing through rock gardens. Not a single view to be had.

    All the usual stuff.

If you go to K-trail, I recommend not riding Lost Goldmine to the K-trail. Personally, I enjoy going that way, but it's pretty technical and loose, and going down from the parking lot to either Cougar or the first jeep road are less taxing ways to get to K. And K is what you want to ride there. Search for threads here. There are decent maps available.

Here's a different entrance to the Gold Canyon trails we did a couple weeks ago. It gives you more of a warmup getting to the trails. Take 60 east to Peralta Rd, park at the elementary school a mile or so down the road.

    Ski. Ride. Hike. Be.

Alright, thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have found GilaMonster's map for the Gold Canyon trail system. I am excited to do some exploring out there tomorrow.
