Man I am trying to dig up my map which shows a good parking spot and route which minimized paved road time. With out it its hard to point out which way to go . Otherwise the best and safest way is to park at ice house CCC. Also in the end take the west trail off check damn up to the ccc parking lot or . Once you hit the road riding sixshooter follow it back to the CCC all down . Check damn is fun but may be a bit rocky for some. If you miss your right hand turn off check damn you will continue down check damn and end up down on a dirt road you will need to follow west then south back to the CCC parking

Riding up is an option . I haven't done it personally but know a good handful who have and also its shorter than the 16 miles up . Unless your training.

I would think so as the trail up from ccc is maybe 5 miles 6 tops . Although the ride up will def take more out of you than the road but I have done the road a few times and I didn't like it very much but I had parked up top rode down then back up to truck . That was a full long day.

Here is a trimble track that has the route I had mentioned . If you look you can see how much road it cuts out . Mountain Biking Six Shooter 13 Aug | Mountain Biking in Arizona

When I did Six Shooter we only had one vehicle. Rather than the road we climbed Telephone. It wasn't too bad though there was some steep sections of hike a bike. I seem to remember around 50% of the trail was rideable going up. I'd much rather climb trail than fire road any day, even if it is a lot of HAB.

We ended up climbing up Six Shooter trail. It was a challenge thats for sure, but gorgeous and well worth it! @Clockwork, thank you for all the insight! @evdog, I agree! The trail was gorgeous and much better than a fire road!

No prob . Next year I plan to get back on my schedule and will be doing shuttles once again at least once a month and can hold 6-8 riders like I used to do all the time a couple years back . I will also be doing a couple goldridge and reavis also .

That trail is a beast to climb. Tried it once! I stick to the road any more, or just shuttle it.
