Sedona Broken Arrow and more -- 9-9-2012

BikeDestroyer, Eazy-E, WhoopWhoop, and I rode Sedona on Sunday. Started with Broken Arrow. Trails I remember include Llama, Little Bell, Slim Shady, HT, etc. It was my first time up there and it was so epic. Everything was so green, and the colors were so vibrant.

Here are the photos and videos that I captured on the ride.

The entire list of photos at the link below. I'll post some of the best in the next response.

Here are all of the videos. You can practically see the entire loop we did in here if you watch it all. That last two were still processing at the time of this posting.

How come nobody told me how ugly those blaze yellow G-Form pads are?

In all seriousness, Sedona is flipping awesome. Broken Arrow had me grinnin' like a possum eatin' sh*t, and I'd shuttle Slim Shady all day long, no problem. Sedona is one of those places you go to and you realize really quickly, this is what it's all about.

Can't wait to get back there, again, and again, and again. What are you guys doing this weekend?

    Couple of my faves:

I have not been able to ride for two weeks so all I do is look at videos and pics and these pics made my laptop start to levitate!

You did the Old fashioned mountain bike race in Flag a few weeks ago right? Were you wearing a white or grey long sleeved shirt?

I have photos of you! I am this weird cyber stalker. Messing with you. We rode very close to each other most of the race, on any sort of incline you would pull away from me but I would catch you on the downhills and a riding buddy of mine who broke some bones in a crash before the race still showed up and got some pictures of me and you are right in front of me. I was riding a black Tallboy wearing a blue shirt and I had the American flag on my seat bag, it sort of looked like I was ****ing the flag.

Send me the pics, if you can.

Where do you live at? You should come out and ride with us sometime.

    True.

I figured I might as well have something un-natural so the search party can find me better.

    They're still mighty ugly though.

Looks like we might be going back to Sedona again for some more fun this weekend.

If anyone wants to tag along, lets us know. I have room for 5 (including me) in my truck, and 3 (including me) seats are already called for. Gas sure is cheaper split 5 ways...

Probably looking at Sunday, early meet time so we can get up there and be done riding before it gets too hot.

Ben- were you number 7? That is who I have pics of. Love to go to to Sedona but my daughter and I are heading up to Fire on the rim in Pine.

I have only ridden at pima and dynamite but there is PMP which I heard is good and also some trails up at black canyon. Just depends on how far you want to travel.

Pima and Dynamite can have some sand, but as long as you go off of trail 1 and to the east on the single tracks, it usually is good. If you stay on trail 1, you will probably hate it

I'm down to go to Sedona this weekend - I'm a bit of a noob (last weekend I rode Templeton trail, but walked a few sections) but have a decent bike and have been wanting to find some people to push me to become a better rider.

Also....I'll have to check my GoPro footage from the Old Fashioned cause I think I've got some ride footage of #7 and/or #8

I'm going to try and make it, dependent on getting a demo bike from the shop...my RP23's ProPedal wasn't working and so they had to send it in to Fox for warranty repair.

    I was #8

We are meeting at the McDonalds at I-17 and Carefree Hwy at 6 a.m. -- behind the entrance to the drive-thru. Looks like we might have a small crowd so we'll have to split up the carpool most likely.

Please be punctual. I don't know that we'll be able to take a good head count and know if we are missing anyone since I don't know everyone who is showing up. We'd like to get on the road promptly so we can get an early start on the trails.

I'm on the teeter-totter at the moment, looking for someone to push me over the edge.

My bud is unavailable, so it's just me at the moment. I'd have room for a second bike in a rack on my truck and could do one more strapped down in the bed if anyone needs a ride.

I'd be coming from Tempe/Chandler area in the event anyone else is down this way.

I can't guarantee how things will play out, but its looking like we might have to split the carpool. Its up to you if you want to show up and figure it out on the spot. I assure you we are a friendly bunch. I'm sure we can figure out the driving arrangements no problem.

Slim Shady, Broken Arrow, HT, all the usual stuff.

I guess if you want to go, show up at the McD's on Carefree and I-17 at 6AM tomorrow and we'll work it out from there.

Oh, I was going to bring some Longboards and maybe pick up a six pack of Blue Moon or Shock Top, if anybody wants a post ride drink.

I have no doubt of that. I haven't been riding all that long, but this has to be one of the friendliest sports I've ever been involved in. At the Old Fashioned I had a mechanical, and every person that road by asked if I was good. Its contagious. I'm assuming from the fact we all rode the Old a couple weeks ago that I'll be able to keep up?

I'll plan to be at the McD's, as well as to drive to Sedona. No problem.

And Easy..... what's wrong with pre-ride drinking?

If you drink before noon, you're kind of a drunk, but if that's how you get loose, who am I to throw stones?

Don't worry about being fast or good enough. First, none of us are pro, and you won't get dropped. Second, I think we maybe rode seven minutes at a crack without stopping for pics, goofing off, or gawking. Social pace, to the max.

If anyone's interested I'm heading up to Sedona October 12 and 13. Ive never rode there and wouldn't mind linking up with some cool people that know there way around. If anyone wants to show me around the trails up there I'd be glad to ride with ya. PM me and let me know. Thanks
