It's time for the 2nd Annual South Mtn Classic and GRO-AZ has been invited to participate again with our skills area. Last year's event was a huge success and we're looking to improve on things this year with more features and organized races on the newly reworked dual course. We're lining up sponsors so there will be some cool stuff for awards. This event is a fundraiser for the Parks department and is our opportunity to showcase the type of riding features we want to incorporate in the future bike park here in Phoenix. Check our website for more details (Gravity Riders Organization Of Arizona ) or look us up on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/gravityride...arizona?ref=hl ) We'll be posting updates as the area work progresses. Hope to see you there!
Here's the promo video we made for last year's event. We're in the same area and will have a lot of the same features but are adding more stuff and reworking others. Next work day is this Sunday so we'll have some new pics to post up.
Here are a couple of shots from the last work day. The pump track is reworked with better flow both CW & CCW plus the berms are more sculpted. The dual course has a new wedge feature and we're working on the tabletop at the finish...
Here's the latest update and pics. We have received sponsorship SWAG from our friends at Fox Racing and Kenda Tires as well as local bike company Pivot Cycles! There's some pretty cool stuff to be given out at the event so be sure to mark your calendar. We were able to do some final polishing on the pumptrack today and it is flowing VERY nicely now. The dual course also received a lot of attention and is nearing completion as well. The new Start ramp will make racing a lot more consistent and fun. We started laying out the skinnies area again and will finish it up next weekend. The teeter totter was such a hit last year that we've added 3 more this time, including a Swivel Totter known as the Magic Mushroom Ride
This is going down TOMORROW!! We went out for a last minute check of the track this morning to make sure we didn't have any rain damage and I'm very happy to say that everything is OK. We added more dirt to the finish line jump on the dual course and were able to shape & pack it in this morning. Things are damp but not muddy so be sure to come out and take advantage of the super grippy conditions. See you in the morning!
