Gonna do a nice "aid station" at the bottom of Sunrise, which is after three of the bypasses. That's a good bail point, if you want to skip the dirt road and final Windgate climb, and it will give you a Triple. A double would be bailing after coming down Bell, but we won't have anything set up yet.

Yep, he did run a 32x21... you can grunt it out w a 20t, but a 21 is about perfect.
Your limits are both physical and mental. Suffering will help you find and overcome both.

I *MAY* consider trying this sufferfest for once. Maybe I can convince some of my buddies to tag along. Searching on here I came across this map and GPX file:

    Map: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/35527/mtb/Quadruple.png
    GPX: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/35527/mtb/Quadruple.gpx

Is this the correct route? How are the climbs? Frankly I've only been to the McDowells once a few years back for an MTBR group ride (and had a blast!) and I'd like to check it out again. My longest ride is the ToWM 35-mile course so how would this compare to that?

I'm not on my laptop, so I'm not seeing the GPX file, but the Quad is around 33 miles or so, and around 7000 feet of climbing. So similar in distance to the TOWM 35 course, but FAR more climbing, all of which is harder, longer and steeper that anything on that course. That said, it's doable, and there is always a "back of the bus" group that is out to survive it, and have a good time doing so!

Yo Walt... No way in hell I could even consider this ride so if you need someone to assist with an 'aid station' along the route let me know.

I'll be sandbagging on my "Big" bike since it has 2 rings I do need to get an actual map of the route since I don't do STRAVA/GPS or any other sort of mapping. I'm the weird guy that still uses a paper map...

OK, if I'm reading correctly then this route doesn't go up Tom's Thumb and you repeat Windgate at the end?
