RR: Kaibab - Navajo Trail & AZT 42-43

This exploration ride turned out much better than I had hoped. I'm still buzzing about it. Ride report below, enjoy!

    Mini Cooper?

I've long been interested in the Mini Cooper but it didn't seem practical for mountain biking trips. But it looks like you have one? Is that some sort of custom roof rack or "off the shelf". Do the bikes on top make noise/reduce your gas mileage much? And what about the low ground clearance on those dirt roads leading to trail heads on the AZT or BCT?

I have the winter off and will begin at least twice a month trips down there in mid December. I'm hoping I can get some riding partners to do some long XC point to point rides. I'm looking forward to doing AZT Picketpost to Kelvin ASAP.

Thanks for the information on your site!

P.S. you have a good camera and use a GPS. Have you thought about Geotagging your photos? Pretty easy, see my photo site.

Wherewolf: The mini isn't mine, my first time in one actually. I believe the roof rack is a Thule, bikes were quiet, can't speak to the gas mileage though. The rack did wiggle loose on the washboards, but it may also be an old rack. Definitely not the ideal transport especially for 3 bikepackers!! But it got the job done.

Re: Geotagging, I've done that on occasion via Topofusion's photofusion function. It's pretty cool, but I have a hard enough time getting my pics uploaded & blog posts done in a somewhat timely fashion. Maybe I'll start picking a few favs and post them to the route.

Shoot me a PM when you're in town & we'll go for a ride.

Awesome story and great pics. I love that part of the state and am now planning a ride similar to this one for the future.
