    Racing in and around Phoenix

Try as I may, I canít seem to find a place on the web that compiles all of the MTB racing opportunities in Phoenix. Of course Iíve found the MBAA site, but is that it? Is that the extent of XC racing in AZ? Where are the forums, with riders trash talking with each other, planning group rides etc?

MTBR is great but Iím looking for more of a regional board! Any help? Thanks in advance.

Arizona Endurance Series - Underground Endurance Series, distances between 40 and 200 miles, free
Epic Rides - XC races, > $100 each
Cave Creek Bike Fest - XC race, 1x per year
Fat Tire 40 - xc race
Barn Burner - roadie mtb race, 1x per year

Returned to mountain biking after a 15+ year respite (.. last rode in Seattle in the mid-90's ..) and did the Barn Burner this past June.

Is there anything race-wise nearby to cure the summertime blues?

also fire on the rim - relatively cheap entry fee. good shwag. funds go to a good cause. very enthusiastic locals. the course needs work, but they are on that. worth doing.

as for AES - those guys are just weird. Who puts on a race for free?

We've got a great race up in Pine on September 14th called "Fire On The Rim". It is a race that will test your endurance and your biking skills. We are adding a couple more miles of singletrack to the race course as we will cover all of Trail 15 for those doing 2 or 3 laps. Trail 15 is not a beginner trail ... unless you want to take your bike for a walk... but is rewarding in it's challenges. Please check out the race website with the same name. All proceeds go to trail development in the Pine area. We should have approximately 6-7 miles of new trail built by race weekend. The new trail is not part of the race loop but could be enjoyed before or after race day. I will be posting a new video soon to showcase the new portion that has been added. Hope to see you in Pine in September.

If you like swimming and trail running with your mountain bike racing, the Four Peaks Brewing Urban Dirt Tri at Tempe Town Lake/Papago is fun. October 6th. 1/2 mile swim, 13 mile mtb, 5K trail run.

I am thinking about the Old Fashion too.
