Over the weekend Sonoran Expeditions hosted a 2 day pruning session on the Black Canyon Trail. The goal was to cut back the Cat Claw Acacia on some of the most grown over sections. A small group of volunteers were able to completely clear the Antelope Creek section and a few miles south of Gloriana Mine.
Sonoran Ex provided volunteers with BBQ cook out Saturday night and breakfast in the morning.
While we were please to log a combined 36 hours of labor on the trail the turnout was low. A total of four volunteers (including SonEx owner Brob McPherson) were able to clear apprx 8 miles of combined trail. There is much more work that needs to be done to get the trail back into its glory.
Stay tuned for details on round 2 of De-Claw the BCT. Cheers!
