    Photo Friday-Trail Day Edition

Had fun polishing up an old Flagstaff favorite last Saturday. Sunset Catwalk or Organ Donor. This section is arguably Flagstaff's most iconic trail. The goal was basic tread repair and prepping for monsoon season.

    Thanks sponsors!

Most of the effort was on knocking down the berm and outsloping the tread rather than the existing u- or v-shaped channel that was causing incision.

There were a couple of spots that required some rock work. I guess you could call it sanitation but it's not a downhill trail. Before:

I like technical trails as much as anyone but prefer the tech be purpose-built rather than simply technical because the tread is eroded. Anyhow, there's an awesome rock that locals like to boost but the landing was into a sketchy rock garden. Raisingarizona took the lead on this one and built a functional waterbar but keeping the rock to work as a gap jump.

    It rides pretty well.

Awesomeness! I look forward to the day when my wife and I can move to our Arizona home full-time, so we can lend a hand on these trail days.

    Thanks for the photos rm!

Even though there have been a few complaints about the work we did out there I know it's going to ride great for a few years, especially once we get some rain and the trail see's more tires on it.

All in all I would call the day a big success and a lot of fun.

I looked on Trailforks and MTB Project and neither sunset catwalk or organ donor showed up. Where is this trail. Looks great.

Catwalk is the exposed section that traverses Elden Mtn toward L. Elden. Organ Donor is another name for the same section. Named after the owner of Late for the Train donated a spleen and kidney in a crash on the trail in the early 90s. The owner of Bike Revolution also broke his hip on the trail so it's taken names for sure. An awesome piece of singletrack.

Thanks for posting. Awesome work. I've not ridden flag (MTB anyways) yet but it's on my list this summer. I also want to be more involved in trail work. Hitting up a GROAZ meeting and looking for other ways to help.
