New Quartz Trail in Cave Creek

Here is a video Bondo and I shot in Cave Creek Park of the new Quartz trail. It connects between Go John and Slate.

    Enjoy.

I found going up to be more enjoyable than the Go John......but wasn't sure if I was just overly excited about a new trail......

Quartz is a great addition to Cave Creek Park and gives better loop options from Slate connecting to Go John. The views are pretty nice too.

Do you still ride bikes? Are you still in the mid-west somewhere freezing? Pueblo is just around the corner my friend.

I disagree. It looks like a Geox AKA or WTB Weirwolf.

Thanks. I don't want to hijack your thread but I'm in the market for a new 29er rear tire and Bontrager stopped making the XDX. I've used 6 of them over the last 3 years without a single side wall tear. I like the looks of the Ikon but wanted to hear from some one local on durabilaty. What version are you riding and how is it holding up?

So far, so good. We are running the 29X2.20 EXO versions. They have the additional sidewall protection and still come in at only 580 grams. We are running them front and rear.

I ran the Ignitors for a while and these actually grip better on cross country trails around here (loose granite over hard pack).

I haven't run them long enough to tell you how long they will last.....

Great video. Makes me hungry to go back as I passed this two days ago on Slate. My next ride for sure.

Can you estimate a loop distance for this ride? Looks as if you went Slate>Jasper>Go John>Quartz (back to Slate).

We started from Fletchers Auto (Carefree Hwy and 48th St) while I was getting the oil changed. The ride was Slate/Jasper/Go John/Quartz back down to Slate(back to parking lot)/Go John/Quartz/Slate(back to Fletchers). Ride was 13 miles.

Home Depot start. Rode Slate, Jasper, Go John, Quartz, Slate back to HD. Next ride will be to Slate, Quartz climb to Go John, then deep into the park from there. I almost feel like Quartz was meant to ride ccw. Thanks for your vid; it was helpful.

Rode this trail for the first time yesterday. Rode from Flat Tire our Surry, to slate, to quartz, left on Go John to the parking lot, up the switchbacks, back to the gate, back up and around Overton, out Go John, Jasper, Slate, and military to Rancho manana.

Was an awesome ride. Quartz isn't anything special to me in itself, but the downhill on Go John was crazy fun.

Not to derail, but I made a video meself!

Jones ACX is still a great rear tire.
