    Mystery lights in the McDowells

Anybody know what is up with the lights that showed up on a couple of vacant peaks? Are there even trails in that area?

They showed up around the solstice, so I am thinking we may have druids.

Photo is from the FH side. Are they visible from the Scottsdale side?

Where is that photo taken from in FH... If I had to guess, I'd say out on Palomino or something?

LJYJ: I shot that last night, the 23rd. Could be a couple of riders really really lost. Must be some hella battery packs, because they are still on tonight. They look like LEDs, but I think they are floods rather than focussed beams.

Ken: good eye. That was only a 15 second exposure, but still got some nice star tracing.

Mike: Very big nipples that light up at night.

tplace: Taken from my house, not so very far from the gate to the "jeep trail" (what we called Dixie Mine trail back in the olde days).

tjkm: Thanks for checking. My neighbor is trying to talk me into doing a night ride up there to see what is going on.

I live approx the same distance from SoMo Pima canyon - my wife took a similar shot with her iPhone when I aimed a 10 watt HID light (12 degree bulb) at the general direction to the house (was taking some distance night photos of the house) from the ridgeline/Marcos de Niza.

You all ever figure out what the lights were?
Tie two birds together and though they have four wings, they cannot fly!

I never have. One of them went out for a couple of months. When I was driving home one evening I saw it come back on, and change intensity, like someone was aiming it. As of now they are both still alight. If someone did this as an artistic statement, I applaud them.

The lights are part of the communication tower project .... they have been on for months now. i have no idea what purpose they serve but they first showed up last winter when the construction began
