Looking for suggestions for late January trip to AZ... from New England

Hi, just looking for any suggestions on a 5 day trip, probably flying into Phoenix but that is flexible. This is a birthday present from my wife and I get the feeling that I will be going solo, so it would be cool to be in a place with other riders both on the trail and to grab a beer afterwards.

Is it possible to do the Black Canyon trail and just go from trailhead to trailhead and pay a service to shuttle me back someplace?

Any other suggestions? This will be late January.

I might try to finagle a new bike out of this, explaining that it's easier and cheaper than bringing my bike or renting!

    Thanks!

Have a look at the sticky. Freeskier's link is more recent but this is one of the most inspirational threads on AZ riding I've seen posted. http://forums.mtbr.com/passion/anoth...st-787970.html

    BCT and AZT

You can do out and backs on BCT. Black Canyon city trailhead is great for this. Several great sections of the Arizona Trail. I'll be doing a lot of Arizona riding this winter. If we are compatible I'd do some point to point rides with self-shuttling. I do long slow XC. My favorite is AZT Picketpost to Kelvin. Lots of info and photos on my website.

Wow man thanks for posting that. It's threads like that that remind me of just how blessed I am to live in AZ with so much epic riding nearby.
