Just picked up my new TALLBOY tonight - best trail to christen my 29er?

Sorry about the dorked out picture below - STOKED to have gotten this bike. I've been riding a SC Superlight for the past 10 years and demoed this bike out at McDowell when they were here and then up in Sedona 2 weeks ago. Couldnt stop thinking about it, and now it's in my garage.

SO - what are you opinions on the best trail to take it on. I have to admit I live in Red Mountain so Hawes is my backyard (though I am healing up from a gnarly crash from upper Hawes on Sunday ) but want everyone's opinion where to really get all the bene's of my nice new 29er!!! I test rode one of those, nice bike. Climbs nicely b/c of the steep head angle but you can still bomb it.

    Did you try the LT?

Take it on Hawes! You know those trails. The differences in the two bikes will be readily apparent. And I believe Hawes is deserving of the honor, since it's been good to you all those years.

I've had a tallboy for a year and a half and love it.. climbs... descends... and it so comfortable... already have approx. 6500 miles on it... over one year "rode ride free" ..... enjoy the bike...

Flagstaff season is NOW. But I strongly recommend a dropper post for any riding north of Camp Verde, sh~t gets REAL up there! Or, you could venture out to South Mountain instead, which is all very ridable w/o said magical accoutrement, year-round.
Nice KOM, sorry about your penis.

I'm lurking the AZ forum so I don't know your local trails- but that beautiful bike will make every trail better so it doesn't really matter which one is first.

    Congrats!!

I'd say take it to the trails you shred the most...in this case, Hawes. You know what to expect and you'll really be able to feel the difference between your old bike and your new bike on trails you know like the back of your hand.

    Enjoy.

Do Hawes first; then see if it struts on SOMO; Geronimo, then Holbert; then National and 22 street. Then you'll really know if it is a go anywhere bike. Hope it is.

This place needs more ladies... Welcome!

I agree with those who suggested Hawes. Ride what you know on your first venture out with the new bike. Enjoy!
