How many mt. bikes/frames have you bought?

Just curious. I read posts by some about all the different bikes/frames they have bought. Me, personally, I have purchased 3 complete bikes and two frames in my 13 years of mt biking.

I bought my first bike right after high school. My dad died when I was a junior because of bad health from being overweight all of his life. I saw that I was headed down the same path. I had a friend with a mountain bike so I decided to give it a shot. I went to the old mountain sports in flagstaff and spent the $300 for a giant rincon se. I knew that their were trails behind my house but had no idea where they went to. I spent the summer of 2001 exploring and I discovered oldham which led me to rocky ridge which led me to schultz, sunset, etc... I fell in love with the sport and destroyed that poor bike by fall. After that I bought a used iron horse stout with a 5" travel bomber fork with 20mm axle and it blew my mind. Those two years of discovering Flagstaff trails with no gps or even cosmic ray's guide was awesome, I even lost 40 pounds.

    After that it was:

    kona coiler
    kona kikapu
    foes fly
    transition blindside
    transition covert

I commute on a prototype voodoo nakisi set up with a coaster brake. This exact frame but with a blue chain blue seat, cooks cranks, green fade to yellow bmx nut guard, and a sweet blue/yellow tape wrap on the handle bars.

    On my 3rd bike ..

2002 KHS Rage - Snapped frame. Donated to a friend for parts.

    2008 Stumpy FSR Comp - Sold to a tweaker for $0.00 (read-stolen)

2012 Stumpy FSR Comp 29er - will ride it 'till I kill it or a tweaker gets it.

Been while since I thought about all the bikes I've had...
    Mongoose switchback
    Specialized hardrock
    Diamondback V-link
    Rocky Mountain DH-race
Mongoose hardtail with big fat downtube
    Cheeta Proline
    K2 Evo
    Azonic Saber
    Foes Fxr
    Iron Horse SGS Pro
    Turner 6-pack
Turner RFX (ok, it was same rear end as the above bike, but most parts were changed)
    Turner Highline
    Surley Karate Monkey

What's next? Either a 29er that can do double duty as a downhill and trail bike, or a fat-bike.

You had the brown coiler and you felt "weird" hitting the wasabi gap on it.

Currently on an s works enduro, which replaced a stumpy comp. I also was riding a Kona Stuff, which was such a fun bike. I wish I still had one of those. Also had a Roubaix and now a 1978 Viscount steel road bike too.
A good friend got me to stop with the dirtbike and get the Kona. Loved it, and glad I switched. Then I wrecked my motorcycle and damaged my knee real nicely, along with other injuries. When in PT, the trainer threw me on a stationary bike, and I got into biking heavy then. Wish I rode more now, but recently married and father, so schedule is tough.

I really want to get a new bike though. I was born in Canada, so I think it would be cool to rock a unique Canadian bike. Looking forward to shopping around.

I started in the mid 80's, lost count of how many. I would guess 8-9 complete mtb's, then 6 mtb frames i built into new rides, 5 road bikes, Current status is 2 road bikes 2 Mtb's, thinking about building a 650B next.

    1992 Trek 820 Antelope
1995 Bridgestone MB5 (loved that bike)
1999 Mongoose (never really cared for, but rode it to death)
    2008 Kona Cinder Cone
2011 Santa Cruz Nickel (first frame only purchase)

Don't know if I would do another frame only purchase. Did it to save money and ended up with the exact opposite results. Rides well though.

    Only two mountain bikes:

First one was a used 2010 Hardrock Sport Disc 26
Second was a new 2011 Giant Trance X2

Only been riding mountain bikes for a little over 2 years.

That doesn't include my Schwinn with the banana seat I had as a kid or the DG bmx bike I had in grade school.....that DG was just plain awesome. Beat the tar out of that thing and it never even whimpered. :-)

Pretty sure this is a set up so our significant others can find out where we lied about our bike purchases. Since my wife's computer is down right now-I'll play.

BMX from 1974-1988=probably owned about 15 bikes. Highlights are a PK Ripper, DG (broke it in half, rewelded and installed a sidehack), and Robinson,
    2010 Mirraco 20-40 jumper
2005 Redline Proline Team 24 (current BMX)

Road- Oh jeez I hate riding road, but I always forget that and buy one, then get rid of it in a year, then buy another so probably 12 of those in my life and 7 in the last 8 years!
    MTB
1986 Service Merch bike- a rebranded Schwinn
    1989 Tunturi unk model
1994 Raleigh Technium, forget the model but baby blue and too small.
1996 Diamback Sorrento SE with a truly crap elastomer fork
1999 GT Richochet another crap Manitou elastomer that I modded with RS parts, then put on a Marz Bomber and created my first SS.
2004 Trek STP 400 my 21 lb softail CF racing rig
    2007 Gary Fisher Rig
    2008 Specialized FSR
    2010 Fisher HiFi Deluxe
    2012 Vassago Jabber

I demo'd an Anthem in '06 at a race. Bad idea since it was my first ever 26 FS bike I rode and I ride my brakes Euro style (backwards). I jumped on this bike 15 minutes prior to a race and crashed the crap out of it on Estrella putting a nice dent in the downtube. You guessed it, panic brake on a short exposed DH and OTB, over the side! Not allowed to demo for awhile!

I am missing a couple somewhere in there I think. I am so impressed with my Jabber right now and don't think I will ever get rid of it unless its to help fund an Optimus Ti or Verhauen!
