Hawes Night Ride on Thursday 7/25 (with a little celebration too)!

    Hi everyone!

Who's in for a night ride at Hawes this upcoming Thursday (7/25)? Walt & Dee finally came to their senses and moved back to Las Sendas so I figured why not have a little welcome back party on the trails?

The plan will be to meet at the Walgreens at Power & Thomas around 7:15pm and get rolling by 7:45pm. Bring your trail beer and/or flask (:cough: Dee :cough and let's just all get together to have some good ole fashioned fun on some great trails!

    Who's in?

I am a maybe- I am going to be in Cottonwood and Prescott all day and may not get back in time (which means I got to ride up there!) but sounds like a real good excuse to get reacquainted with Hawes!

Hawes Night Ride on Thursday 7/25 (with a little celebration too)!

Oh believe me... I survived this weekend's move, and that calls for some serious "I ain't foolin' around" celebrating on the trails (before, during, after), with or without the flask!
I haven't been riding at ALL (one tiny one) since I shattered my toe last month, so go easy on me!

    We'll be there- 7:15!
Can't wait, thanks for putting it together!

    I need some clarification

So is there going to be post ride imbibing in the parking lot or is the majority of the imbibing going to occur on trail? I just need to know how to properly prepare.

    Whatever you desire...

I'm taking a trail beer or two and hoping we can all meet up on the trail somewhere to drink and chat. We can always drink some more in the parking lot.

Here's my plan, given it is a total joyride...

    Beers pre-ride, mid-ride, post-ride...

    Prepare!

    Pre ride preparation:
    Load bike - check
Load gear bag (helmet, shoes, pump etc.) - check
    Load water bladder - check
Load riding attire (shorts, shirts, socks) - dammit, looks like I will be driving home after work and then over to Hawes.

Not gonna lie, kinda wish I didn't live so far out, seems like it will be a fun ride. I haven't been sick in a while, maybe I'll have to use a sick day soon.

Of course everyone is welcome (ok, to hell with those underwater basket weavers- they're trouble, those people!), and for anyone who misses this one, it's not gonna be the last! Believe me! :-)

Thanks for coming out everyone! We had a decent turnout of 13 so not bad.

The weather was perfect, the group was great, and the beer consumption was acceptable. Can't wait to do it again!!

Oh. I see. "Acceptable". My Tecate noy meeting the standards? ;-) Ok, choking down the parking lot warm beer made me second-guess that beer. Fireball is always good warm. Next time! :-)

There is no reason for warm beer in a parking lot. Modern man has an invention called ice that cures that problem.

I really need to get some lights.

Yeah, true. A cooler would have been a good idea.
I liked the way everyone did the beer ride. They brought multiple regular sized beers, and drank them at points all over the trail, versus the way we've always done it, which is to bring an oil can and drink it at the highest peak of the ride. Much easier to down a single beer, than a big oil can!

Fun time for sure, way better than working an evening shift!!

De: you could have choked down a nice 'cold' Yuengling instead of a warm Tecate!! I had one in my car.

Yeah, I liked the multiple beer stops along the way. I made sure my water bladder was full of ice, then dropped one can on each side during the ride, nice cold trail beer. Boom!

Good times! With 13 riders, it went very smooth. Something about having beers involved to lighten the mood of a ride.

    Let's do it again soon.

Hawes Night Ride on Thursday 7/25 (with a little celebration too)!

Some rides involve beer at the end as a reward, others, involve beer mid-ride, and some, like last night, deserve all three courses! For me, all of my "work rides" are during the day, and thus the night rides are all about fun!

John- OH I would have taken that cold
one off your hands, had I known!! Would have had to hold my nose while I drank it, but I wouldn't have put on airs by that point. Lol

That reminds me- I need to get some of that FACEPLANT shipped from Virginia!

PLEASE post up if this becomes regular. There would be nothing better to me than having to choose between to great rides on a Thursday night. I love seeing new rides/groups etc spring up. There is no reason why in a community this large with all the trail options we have, that we do not have a greater and powerful MTB community. Thank you to the people who put this together, even though I did not go!

Hawes Night Ride on Thursday 7/25 (with a little celebration too)!

I was looking at this ride with you guys on Hawes but ended up staying closer to home and riding the Thursday Night Time Trial at McDowell Loops S-T-L yesterday evening. My poky 1h02 on was slowest of the evening ....still a great session. But yeah, if this Hawes ride gets traction please let us know.
