    SWEET!

I think Brian C. is planning a ride the same day.

Su Ling and I are in. I'm not sure on which ride though.

Oooooo... After the Quadruple Bypass I'm all ready for more climbing! I'd like a dose of up and back but without the DH mayhem please... What about an up and back, then up and back again??? Come on Walt - let's get you out west and do Goat Camp x-country style!

Anyone opposed to a start time of 9 AM instead of 8 ? I prefer later so that I can do more waking up with coffee before the ride. But if early is best due to family obligations or whatever, then I'll drink my coffee while driving...

I'm in, but what is the actual start time? 9:00am or 10:00? The more people the better.

Hey B - Do a mapquest route find from your house to Waddell, AZ. That'll get you close enough to estimate miles and time. White Tank park is an hour drive from my house. Anyone in the Ahwatukee area want to carpool??

well if it's an hour from your place then it's 1h15m from mine. =)

If YoG remembered his forkup then I would swing by and pick you up. I do owe you a car pool ride. even if he forgets it we might be able to sweeze his bike in the back with third rider.

I'll bet is faster than that. all depends on your climbing prowis. but the DH on the "climb" is super fun and bomber fast. almost too fst b/c it ends so soon.

I'd love to carpool. My bike rack is outdated for these new fangled bikes so I will need to be a passenger (with gas $ of course) if that's ok.

Hey Bob... shoot me a PM with your address and I'll swing on by to pick you up on Saturday morning. Sounds like Brian has his car full with his visiting friend and fork mount issues.

Hi, I'm new to MTBR and this forum thing. Where's Goat Camp. I love riding and only have a few friends that feel the same way. I'd love to ride something different this weekend, drink some beers and hawg down some Mexican food after.

GC is at the White Tanks. Good stuff

The park entrance is at the West end of Olive which dead ends into the White Tanks. There's a short hike a bike then it's sweet uphill singletrack up towards the towers. Let us know if you're in. Come prepared (water/snack/tubes).

Hey Aaron and Helimech, Is it bad my chick got a DH frame before I did?

I am getting a new fork for the Morewood so if you are patient, you can try out the DHR and the MW. Go easy little bro....

Anyone in the SE (McQueen & Ocotillo'ish) valley want to carpool? Loooong drive but in a group it would be bearable. My bike barely fits in the back of my truck so being a passenger would be cool. I'd kick in $ for gas, food, beer, whatever...

new guy here on the forum. so just wanted to know is this a full on xc thing or is there some of you folks doing the dh stuff.

Question: is the dh pretty gnarly small drops that is quite techy or is pretty smooth for a 7in fr/dh bike and bombable???

if my friend comes with me, we will do the xc thing but we will be in the back making sure our lungs don't blow!!

Hey doodoo, it sounds like 20 of us are showing up and out of that i would say 8 to 10 are doing the Dhill. A 7 n 7 bike is nice for the Dhill, but probably not much fun for the uphill. If your bringing the 7 incher why are you doing the out & back xc thing???? Later.

just deciding which bike to bring. the crappy xc or the decent freeride bike?? just wanted to know the dillo about it all. i have only been riding all together about 6-8 mnths. and free/dh about a handfull of times. but have done national and mormon and lived actually did pretty well if i say so my self.

can't decide which one i wanna do. the freeride bike can climb decently. i did the long loop and sunrise at lost dog trail on the 7n7. propedal helps alot.

how hard is the climb and how techy is the dh???

oh yeah is the dh crew shutteling or hiking up??

my bad on all the confusing questions and answers i have givn'

doodooboi...no shuttling as the trail starts at the bottom with no road up. The loop consists of the main hiking trails...Mesquite Canyon, Willow Canyon, Ford the Goat Camp. Barring the short unavoidable hike-a-bike in the beginning, it is uphill for about 3/4 of the ride...and rideable. The Goat Camp DH is not for the light-hearted. Good exposure, sections of loose slippery and jagged rock of every size. What you can't ride you can walk though. The last 3 miles are the dh section where you drop lots of elevation in a small amount of miles.

The out and back is the same trail except stopping short of the dh...well, the ridge before. Its a good xc ride...gets in extra miles and you can have a blast coming back on what you just climbed. The singletrack up to the dh are awesome and some of the best around. Very nice trail with a little bit of everything from rocky to smooth and sections of down inbetween all the climbing. Techy spots along the way. It's a grunt up though.

It's good to do both...do one this time and do the other next. Bring armour if you plan on doing the dh gnar. Broken helmets and nasty cuts are not totally uncommon but if you are a smart rider and know your limits you should be fine.

Here is the GPS data for the ride. Ignore the 4:32 total time as I turned the GPS on about 1 hour before we actually left.

Very cool, thanks for the info. I have to try that Motion Based deal out. I've had a GPS unit for like a year now but never used it. "Garmin etrek Legend C" anyone know if this is compatible with that site? I guess I could look myself but me lazy.

BTW: Great ride!...well until my bike died, then it lowered itself a good ride. Nice to meet some new faces. Hey Helimech, thanks for the ride back to my car, the walk back on that road was getting long and boring.
