Anyone have a good suggestion for where to order the light from that is as good as they were?

I wonder what put them under.

I did not want a light a year ago.

Plus, my etch-a-sketch has been in the shop for a while.

The magic shine light are also branded under several other names, Chinese made lights. I'm sure you can still find them on the net.

Plenty of them on ebay. Better batteries at Geoman though. I am currently trying to find a better mounted battery.

Don't know if this is the same one but, I've bought a few things off this site in the past. Used to ship from Hong Kong.

Geoman was a great guy. What a tragic story.

The company closed up after the Magicshine recall which hit them pretty hard. They still had amazing customer service by exchanging all of the faulty batteries even after they closed up shop. Hopefully they can return some day...

Pat at Ballistic Battery made me one a couple years ago. Lighter, longer lasting than stock and I just made a Velcro strap when I bar mounted the light. Now I just pop it in my pack. Local too!

I got some batteries from him a few years ago, and they are top notch!

Did he make you a light too? My Geoman magicshine 1800 (Mickey mouse style) is on the fritz, and am shopping for a new one, or a fix on it.
I think I'm not as good as I thought.

What symptoms are you experiencing? I too am having issues with the bar mounted 1800. Starts flickering shortly after using independent of setting. Seems like a loose connection, but I haven't really had the time to dig deeper into the issue.

My big bulb won't work. At first it would flicker, than worked intermittently for a few months, now nothing. The 2 ears still work just fine, which is nice for on the bars for a spread of light, since I have a head lamp too.

Before it totally conked out, I pulled it apart to look for loose wires, because that is what I thought it was too, but didn't find anything. Some people on the lights forum have talked about the driver going bad and other electro-engineer stuff that is way above my head.

Aha, thanks for the reply. I'm leaning towards finding a suitable handlebar lightset that runs on AA's for the multi-day stuff I do. So far I've had no issues with my MS helmet light. (fingers crossed)

I would recommend bikeempowerment as well. Run by a local San Diego guy, pretty good service. Looks like he's out of the original magicshine products

My 1800 has had problems as well. It doesn't flicker, it just goes off randomly. I think there is a bad connection where the wire comes in. I haven't had time to deal with it. Chris at bikeempowerment has told me there were problems with a lot of the 1800 units.
