    Full-Body Armor Required

I'm glad that we don't have any Rattlesnakes this big around here! (hopefully)
It would require full-body armor head-to-toe just to ride the trails.
Found in GA outside of Atlanta.
For reference, the guy is 6'2".

Do all snake guys wear the same boots? Don't worry Rick those boots go better with your camo shorts.

There's lot of photos around like this. I think you're right. The snake is close to the camera making it look like it's huge. I say hoax.

The camera angle isn't helping the size issue but it's clear that the tail is on the ground and it's lifted to head height with some of the body still hanging. It's at least as tall as the grown man which could possibly be some Georgian, 5'2", banjo-playin' hillbilly (with nice boots).

It's a big snake for sure...

I don't see the tail on the ground at all

It's curved but not on the ground. I'll bet that snake is no more than 3 feet from the camera.

I sure wouldn't want this guy approaching my car

Would you want that giant predator near you or your kids?
Unique specimen that it is, I probably would have shot it too, just too dangerous around humans, not to mention farm and domesticated animals.
It would make a nice pair of boots or two, a belt and a hat band with more left over, not to mention the Bar-B-Que!
They have enough smaller ones there to make up for the loss of the ginormous one, which at approx. 20 yrs. old isn't going to be around much longer.

Snake that big gotta weigh a bunch, and this dude is either Superman or this is indeed a camera angle thing. King Kong is real tho, he lives in a 'safari park' in England, and was raised on a diet of shepherds pie and baked beans, with the occasional Peugeot full of tourists thrown in... What you cannot see in his right fist is the can opener...

It looked like it was resting on the ground to me. Either way it was 6'6" which is a little smaller than I'd think from the photo but still substantially longer than the guy in the photo.

I lived in the South a couple years and there are some massive snakes down there. I never saw a huge Diamondback but saw a lot of pictures similar to that posted.

The ones that freaked me out were the Cottonmouth (Water Moccasin). Those things come at you fast and want to mess you up! That is freaky to see in action - gets you heart pumping fast as in OMG shoot or run!

Yea that is a good question - tough sometimes because we don't know the circumstances. Unless immediate threat to someone I would leave it alone. Senseless to kill just to kill.

yeah cottonmouths are no joke them buggers love to chase anything. When I lived in CO. I had to look out for them all the time when I was out fishing the streams.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body.

The guy holding the snake is obviously on a ledge. That allows the snake's tail to dangle about 1.5 feet below Bubba's boots. Therefore, not a hoax.

How would being on a ledge prove that it's not a hoax? We'd need to know the length of the stick using to hold the snake to figure that out.
Regardless, this dude looks hot with the boot/shorts combo.

I was getting loads of hits on my blog a couple years ago because people were searching for a giant diamondback a guy killed-dead in Globe. Here's a link to the Globe hoax: http://www.kingofforwards.com/amazin...globe-arizona/

It doesn't really look like he's on a ledge at all to me. If the assumption is the photo is not a hoax, then Bubba and the snake would have to be close to the same distance from the camera, and the only way that could happen based on the picture is for Bubba to be on a ledge with the snake's tail below the level of his feet.

Experts said Eastern Diamondbacks are only between 3 and 6 feet long on average. Ref above link.
If that is the case, the GA rattler is pretty much on the money!
Why does everybody automatically think that this is a hoax?
When I read the article & saw the stats, it seemed logical to me!?
