Here's some pics from my trip home to Utah. We have easy mountain biking up there - no snakes (that I've ever seen), no cactus, no 118 degree weather. Ah....no place like home.

And no fun. That trail looks as smooth as a sidewalk. I'll take rock and cactus over buff any day.

Cool vibe and sense of optimism in Durtgurl's morning pic. Like it's going to be a really killer day.

It WAS a great day! Five on Pivot Firebirds (two were 27.5s) and two on single speeds met up for a 5:30am start from my house. We proceeded to have cloud cover for almost the whole ride up the hill, then had a marvelous surf down Corona de Loma and ended up in the pool and sharing beers in the shade of the back patio. Always a good day when you start it on a bike.

    We rode to here today

it's a bit of hike, really, but i think my bike enjoyed the reversal-of-roles.

I have yet to try Corona de Loma. Heard its a good one. Sounds like a perfect day, except for the part of being on a Pivot.

    Bikepacking 101: Mogollon Rim

Here are some from last weekend's outing on the rim:

All Bikes in Rye, no more:

    Friday sunset

    The lineup

Chill pace on the rim road

I'm not sold on Dave's 'liteandfast' moniker

Handlebar high ferns on the Fred Haught trail

    Trails were in great shape

Even the forest roads are nice up there

    Beer stash!!

    My kind of tent city

Chongoman showing us how it's done

Picasa animated these shots for me, turned out pretty cool. Aspen Spring.

    What?!?! Only a hiker symbol....sheesh.

    Impending doom....avoided.

Just 'upstream' from Blue Ridge Reservoir

Everone loves a good HAB, right?

Finished up on AZ87 back to the car

Night ride shot from a few years ago at PMP. Tis the season! You know, it's strange, my mileage/month always went up during the summer compared to the winter. I figured it's because I love a nice night ride, especially alone since you feel the faint survival instincts kick in a bit. It's a primitive feel, you know. My next night ride is going to be so incredibly awesome.

Not sure what kind of little bug this was. Looked like a tick with red fuzz all over it.
