LOL, I remember the first time I hit that. I had no idea what was coming until I saw a wall of dirt. There was only one way out and I mashed and yelled and landed it, as well as all other attempts that day.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) that was Scott and not me. He hit pretty hard and somewhere before I went to try it I lost my man card so I took the table top option to the right.

Upload the video to Vimeo, YouTube, Photobucket, etc.... and then get the embed code. Then copy and paste it into your post.

That lip could be about half as high and back 8 feet and then it might be smooth without a built up landing. A high speed step up that basically couldn't be overshot. It has potential but as is.........eh.

My feelings too. Why make a lip for a 30 foot jump only to have a 6 foot gap. Entry speed to that one really high. Really poorly designed.

Thanks man! We will indeed. We are hoping to get things really rolling by next spring with Flagstaff Gravity Riders. There is a lot of work to be done but it's very exciting. Can you imagine what can be done if built legit? As soon as the website goes up I'll let everyone know.

"Sometimes jumping bikes don't mount to a hill of beans, but this is our hill and these are our beans."

Looks like video 1, he needed to flair it out and transition to the left a little. The jump looks like it takes you straight, where you need to tweak it a little left. His body started leaning that way, but he didn't bring the bike with him.

I thought the same thing when I went up last month. The potential is ridiculous, some think this could be a bad thing and will resist change but I know we could do something great. It's also the start of creating a REAL bike park at the Bowl. Everything is still in the works and we really don't know what's going to happen but things are looking very positive. Stay tuned and as soon as an FGR site is in place the organization will be needing support. Keep your fingers crossed!

Theres not a "particular" way to approach a step up jump. You can't just haul balls to everything. I have plenty of videos of people hitting it perfectly smooth. Just because you don't know how to judge your speed doesn't make it a bad design.

This was my first time on this trail and I really enjoyed riding it. The reason my buddy crashed was all his fault. This was his second time jumping it and his goal was to slow down (which he didn't). I appreciate that this trail exists and my thanks go out to anyone who was involved or has worked on it.

Ah the great little things that are hidden in threads sometimes. I would be stoked on a park within a few hours of PHX.

it is a bad design. You shouldn't have to "speed check" yourself in order to properly catch landing. A good design would have been to utilize the natural speed coming in and build the jump accordingly; in this case smaller lip plus longer gap.

That is the issue, the natural speed is FOCKING fast leading into that jump. I did it last year before it was changed up and it shot me up out of the pit and a good 6 or 7 feet high and there was no landing.

    Where is the McMuffin vid???

Pretty sure I can judge speed by now. Any jump that you have to shut it down to a crawl to avoid overshooting the landing by several feet is a S%$TTY designed move. That trail was built years ago and was just renovated over the last few years with some new features. Underbuilt and remedial, but if that is your style by all means continue.

You know it his style. I seen a member of their crew build a cheese wedge by shuffling dirt with his foot. Not IMBA approved trail building tool...

If you get into advanced trail building you would never build a line like that, that's all we were saying. You have no problem then you must be way more advanced then me, my bad.

It's all part of a plan that is not really fixed in stone, just some ideas being thrown around right now. Hopefully though some super sick but legit trails will be coming.
