Ever have trouble sleeping before a ride?

Here I sit at 3am and Im supposed to be riding at 6am. Just cant quiet the mind. Keep thinking about the routes, the obstacles, the pedalling (Ugh heavy reign x). Excitement aside bike insomnia sucks! So I just got up, fixed myself some oatmeal, drinking some electrolytes and waiting for the alarm clock.

I do not sleep well anyway and when Im riding the next morning I can't sleep either , If I can just get 3 hrs Im generally ok but sometimes I can't sleep at all and I loose my edge and ride sloppy .

I have found the "REM CAPS" from Hammer really do help me sleep .

I will take two on a night before a ride and I can generally get 5 hrs of sleep which is just great for me .

They are all natural and don't screw me up like regular sleeping pills do .

Yes, I'm usually getting in around 2am from the pub for 6 am shuttles.

Sometimes yes... I'm amazed that I can zip along 30-40 miles of trails after sleep deprivation with little in the way of negative effects.

You might try reading something completely unrelated and not super exciting/riveting (not on a computer!) before you go to sleep to get your mind thinking about another subject all together.

LOL Too funny. I had the alarm set for 5am this morning for an early Hawes ride, but there I was looking at the clock at 3:00am , 3:30am, 4:00am .......

More riders diagnosed with the dreaded bike insomnia. I get it before a race or really big ride.

I only get it before a race and if I know somebody is supposed to meet me at a certain time to ride. At least for me, I think it has more to do with a fear of sleeping in and missing something than the anticipation of the ride.

I have had this problem since I was way young. Before the first day of school after summer...
    Before every wheeling trip.
Before every exciting even that requires sleep.
Before I know I have a HUGE day of work ahead of me.
Before going camping, <<<< BIG ONE (always pisses me off).
    The whole timee I'm camping.
    WHile I'm at the dunes.
I think its just the sub conscience mind trying to take over....
mine normally rules 75% of the time.. ops:
