    Still dusty outside now.

Also got caught up in a heavy arse storm in the pinals today. I might as well have jumped in the pool fully clothed as it was that bad. On top of it , we also got hailed on really good. Mother nature giving us a one for.

I got done playing volleyball and had to head back to work. Cruising down the freeway on my crotch rocket and saw some of the clouds around Shaw Butte and North and thought, "man, now would be a great time to be riding." Got a little further south on I-17 and saw that ENORMOUS cloud and knew I needed to haul ass back to work or I'd be sorry. Just made it with about 5 minutes to spare. Was wishing I had a camera to capture that cloud...

Your lucky heavy winds and motorcycles don't mix...About a month ago while driving up the 60 thru devils canyon we saw a motorcyclist who lost his life right before the queen creek tunnel due to him riding 2 abreast and wind blowing him head on into the beginning of the guardrail.

    Stay safe

Heavy winds are tough. Add no visibility... no thanks. That's why I was moving a little quicker than everyone else. Luckily it appears everyone is still out of town for the 4th and traffic was light.

Here's a couple of the storm as seen from National and one taken from inside my car about 10 minutes after finishing my ride. It was really insane. It was still a little light out then, all of a sudden, the storm hit and it was dark. That was the worst dust storm that I've been in during my 17 years living here.

Yeah. That was me. I was parked right behind you. I figured that was you when I saw your pictures and you mentioned seeing the storm from the water tank on DC.

I made it about a half mile South of Elliot on 48th before the visibility got so bad that several of us just stopped in the middle of the street. I turned around and drove to the nearest parking lot to try to wait it out. It was ridiculous how bad it got for a short period there.

It looks like a Nuclear Winter outside this morning. Streets are covered and tire tracks look like those found in snow. Thank god for a garage or I'd be scraping dust off my cars this morning.

Here are some iPhone pics caught on my way home on I-10, then in front of Cactus chatting with Pasch, then on my drive home... I was glad not to be on my bike - What a storm! Today's aftermath is a brown yard and house, a brown pool and clogged filter, and my big garbage can at rest across the street in my neighbor's yard.

Worst I have seen since moving here in '93. And this morning I am blowing chocolate flakes out of my nose to prove it.

I have to say, truthfully, that I think these things are one of the absolute coolest of Mom Nature's spectacles.

I had to open the garage door during the worst of itself to get the bike in. You could see the "cloud" in the air for about 2 hours.

Yesterday was a very versatile weather driving day... Snow and Hail on Lizard Head Pass outside Telluride, Rain on the Mogollon Rim and then a Haboob when I got home.

looks like some of your pics were stolen unless you gave them to the Associated press?

maybe for the business owners grabbing new customers, but not for the employees if they're already contracted to clean certain pools on a scheduled basis,,

yeah I live in Waddell and had no clue that this even happened until this morning when I got to work. It's tough to estimate body damage when every car is now a pile of sand. Those pictures were pretty swet, though. Looks like a volcano went off.

You may want to consider buying a dust colored car also. Dumba$$ me, on the other hand, has 2 black ones and a dark green one, always dirty.

i noticed that associated press originally called it a HABOB, and then issued a retraction with the correct spelling...

i guess the editors were terrified of public backlash similar to what occured after their infamous TITNADO typo of 2002

I'm glad I'm a west side pool guy. West of the I17 things were not to bad. The couple of stops I do at 14th Ave were nasty. Sorry to all of you with pools in the nasty parts of the valley!

It may be dustier where I am, in Ahwatukee about 1/8 mile from the open desert, than where you are. I spent a couple summers vacationing out here before I actually moved, and although common sense says that a desert is going to be dusty, I wasn't aware of just how dusty. My little black truck lives outside and always looks like crap, black hot rod lives in the garage and always has a coating of dust. That's just the way it is, small price to pay for being able to be active outdoors all year long. Bikes are always dirty too, but that's ok.
