    Another Stolen Bike

I am not trying to hijack your posting but I need some help too. My son is a student at NAU and his Novara Aspen mountain bike was stolen yesterday morning from in front of Gabaldon. It is a 2006 blue and black bike with front suspension. If you have any ideas about where these things end up any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

Since the theft occurred in Dec. 2008, it may be a little too late for flyers.

Wilson-- Thanks for the idea. I have contacted the bike shops by email. I will get my son to post some flyers.

Centurion-- My son's bike was stolen Monday the 29th from the campus of NAU. I had just Googled "Stolen Bike Flagstaff" and found this forum thread. I was hoping to get some members of the community to give me some input as to where to look, who to ask or where to go to see about finding the bike. I know it is probably a lost cause but there is only so much a dad can do from 500 miles away. I thought it was worth a shot to ask mountain bikers to be on the watch.

    jmarugg-

Sorry to hear about your son's bike. I should have read the entire thread a little more carefully before posted. I do hope you get it back.

My apologies for making light of a serious issue.

jmarugg, that's not a high end bike so it may turn up. I mean it's probably not on it's way out of town in the hands of a professional thief or ring. Probably more a crime of opportunity. Make sure to file a police report. They'll need the serial number. If it gets pawned the pawn shops have a legal obligation to check the serial number and have to report it stolen. Check the phoenix and vegas craigslists.

This bike shop's specialty is buying and selling used bikes so it could possibly end up there and you can post a description and report it stolen on their website.

    Good luck, bike thieves suck.
