    Colorado Trail Race

For those of you ultra racing and bikepacking fans that enjoyed watching the Arizona Trail 300/750 unfold on Trackleaders, be sure to check out the Colorado Trail Race: Colorado Trail Race 2013 live tracker by trackleaders.com

The race discussion can be found here: CTR 2013 Discussion

At 530 miles, 70,000+ ft of elevation gain, and an average elevation over 10,000 ft, the CTR is a force to be reckoned with. Yet somehow, some immortals finish this beast in only 4 days!

The main group started from Durango, CO at 4 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, 65+ riders strong.

Fellow Arizonans Max Morris and Eric Foster are part of the group and both of them appear to be shredding.

Jefe & Jesse are tangled in yet another battle royale.

Also, keep an eye on Eric Foster & Forest Baker, both on the third and final leg of the triple crown! Forest especially, he opted to race the Stagecoach 400 prior to the AZT750 & will be following the CTR with an inaugural running of the California Sierra Trail race, a mere 410 miles to finish off an impressive run of 5 bikepacking races in one calendar year. If you're keeping score that's: 400+750+2850+560+410=4970 miles!! Ride Forest Ride.

Damn, that's some impressive miles...makes me feel like a slacker!
Your limits are both physical and mental. Suffering will help you find and overcome both.

Looks like Jefe Branham took the win in 4 days and 4.25 hours! Jesse Jakomait came in shortly after with a total of 4 days and 5.25 hours! Jefe said he only slept for 4 hours the entire race which is just insane.

Arizonan Max Morris is up and over the brutal Tenmile Range and making his way over to Georgia Pass. It looks like a low 5 day finish is definitely within his grasp!

Arizonan and Triple Crown racer Eric Foster is nearing Twin Lakes and will easily make Camp Hale today. The question is, will he make the difficult push for Copper Mountain before succumbing to the sleep monster tonight? Janet's Cabin is also a cozy option that isn't quite as far as Copper Mountain. Regardless, looks like he's definitely set up for a 6ish day finish!

Mark, are you carrying a SPOT for your ITT?? Best of luck out there and thanks for you and Josiah extending the entertainment into next week!! Do you have a target time you're aiming for besides just finishing?

Yeah, I'll have a SPOT. I'm hopefully getting set up on Trackleaders tonight. Thanks for the good luck wishes. I'm aiming for an 8 day finish; I don't like skimping on sleep. I think it would be awesome to have two CTR ITT finishes under my belt. Beauty of this year's route is that all CTR finishers are eligible to be dubbed official Colorado Trail finishers, since the route adheres to all of the official wilderness detours!

Is there any app for the smartphone that resembles SPOT functionality?
I know that phone reception is not 100% but with Verizon I rarely have no signal.
There must be some small app that pings intermittently without draining the battery.

Hey Neil, awesome effort on the CTR this year!! Great writeup as well. The way I figured it, I took about 300 pics on the AZT300 this year, at 30 sec. per snap that's 2 1/2 hours!! I guess that's the easiest way for me to get faster.
