Saturday, after a late start, I did a C2C ride on National in preparation for the Flight. Totally kicked my butt. I forgot how gnarly National is on the West side. The climbing is what really did me in, especially since the new fork on my bike made it practically impossible to climb.
I bonked on the road back, but I made it the car at Safeway. 6 hours of riding total.
Sorry, no pics.
So you won't break in the new rig on Somo but your willing to break it in on Bootleg. All I gotta say is be prepared. South's trails are soft landings compared to the Boot!.... and yes I did drink my haterade this morning.
I just want to make use of a free weekend and a new bike. Come'on wouldn't it be sweet to rock a new rig at a new trial. I think I can get use to the new rig pretty easily so would like to rock out a road trip since I am jonesing for some long dh runs!!!!
Man what a hater... go back to Whittier Blvd already!
So Sixty sounds like Thursday morning riding and then Friday morning riding don't worry we won't keep you out too late so you can spend time with the in laws.

Fair enough.
I just think Bootleg isn't a great idea - you haven't ridden DH in a long time, you are on a bike you aren't familiar with at all, and you are going to be riding some the gnarliest trails in the US. Seems like a recipe for disaster...
Anyways...
I think the crew is also a bit bummed that you haven't even brought it out to show everyone yet. No pictures, nothing.

I know what you and AzDog are talking about. I was thinking of the same thing but why the hell not. If boot is out of my league due lack of saddle time, I guess it's SoMo. just overly stoked on the new rig!!! I can't wait to get her dirty!!!!

I'm with Kavu on this one. Bootleg is no joke for someone who has been off the DH saddle for as long as you and especially with a completely unfamiliar rig.
Go pop its cherry on SoMo, you and Markskee can ride hand in hand down National and give each other a "Shake Down" run.
Make sure all the nuts and bolts are tightened and that it's not going to implode on ya then point it down Geronimo, then Holbert, then 24th.
