I thought it would be better to post a new thread. Changing the old one would be confusing.
Last week I got to sit up in the fire lookout tower on Mt Union. The gentlemen who works there talked about he discovered the Yarnell fire and how it progressed on that fateful day.
I'll be riding Poland Road (aka Poland Junction Road) from about 5200 feet (in elevation) up through Breezy Pines
and up to the summit of Mount Union at 8000 Feet. Ride starting point is about 1hr 15 minute drive from my house
at Cave Creek and 101. I'll be starting the ride at 7AM saturday 7/13
Poland Road is about 5 miles northwest of Mayer on 69 (road from I17 to Prescott)
The ride has a total of ~3000 feet of climbing on very smooth dirt road... Last two times I rode it
I rode past less then 3 vehicles/atvs on each ride...
Anyone interested in joining me ? Warning : this is essentially a road ride without the traffic and
beautiful pines/thin air....
