    Best way to get involved.

Im finally getting back into mountain biking after a 10 year break. Now with a wife and 6 month old (Im keeping him away from SoMo freeriders ) I'm finding it harder to find the time to ride as much as Id like but Im really enjoying the trails Ive riden so far (Hawes, Usery) and look forward to making it around Pass Mt someday and venturing out to the McDowells.

Id definitly like to start riding more but I also feel a need to get involved in other ways. Trail maintenance, volunteering etc. What is the best way to get involved? Ive read up a little on MBAA. Is that a good start? Im not sure Ill have the time to ever get into racing but Id definitly like to be more active in the mountain bike community here in the Phoenix area.

I'm in a similar boat... wife and a 14 month old. I just keep my eyes peeled on the forum for opportunities to pitch in when I can. I am getting the opportunity to ride a little more as my son gets older. You might try sending a PM to mbaastan. He's the trails guy for MBAA. He's a good guy to work with!

single best thing you can do - follow rules of trail etiquette and be polite to all trail users.

From there, just pick something that is meaningful or local to you. The McDowells and Somo offer steward opportunities. BCT has frequent trail days. Someone is always digging at NRA. If you are into the MBAA scene, they also have trail days but (i think) typically centric to their courses. And you can always just help out as you see stuff - spend a few minutes covering a spider trail, pick up trash when you are taking a rest.
