AZT in Saguaro National Park East

I've heard conflicting things about riding the AZT in Saguaro National park East. My uncle hikes there and sees bikes on the trail frequently. What gives?

I would even really call it a trail. Bikes are allowed on the old jeep road that runs thru a specific section but thats it. We are not allowed to ride on anything else out there. Its not really anything special in terms or trail but its a step in the right direction for getting more access for bikes.
