Not as fresh looking south from the top of VOAZ.

Got out on a ride on Thursday to beat the cold weather and snow. Finished the day on the Big Parks Loops near the south end of Bell Rock path since we had never bothered with the loops before. Short -- but fun. Also a bit wet and muddy.

    SoMo Natty Today

    Hey All,

I had a pal come in from Mich. and we hit up So Mo this morning. A little chilly at 8:30
but with the sun out it warmed up quick. We climbed Mormon to National then up to Buena Vista lookout. Took in a nice view of PHX and then ripped it down Natty. Just a little problem. When i hit Upper Waterfall i was going good but hit a hole or? and over the bars i went . Luckily i rolled good and only got a few scrapes. Don't know how i was not EFF'D up but the Gods were looking down on me. Good day overall , tomorrow morning we are gonna ride Pyramid Pk, then hit the Supercross at Chase Field. on that note the only bike we ran into today was John Tomac out sampling SoMo's finest , we talked to him about his boy racing Sat Nite, good guy.. now a few pics
    Later ,
    JohnnyK

This is the best thread of the AZ forum! I'm escaping this to head down to Sedona with a balmy high of 41!

Today's AZT Jamboree ride definitely fit the bill for the title, low 20's at the start.

    Grasslands of southern AZ
    From AZT Jamboree 2013: Brrrr!!

Not quite fat bike deep, but made you pay extra attention on the downhills!

Took a few pics here while I waited for my cramped quad to release!!

Our week of riding down south was super fun. Originally we were going to ride the Jamboree but as time progressed, the gnar was calling instead. Goat camp, upper 50 year (super fun), Mt. Lemmon, and then South Mountain. We had a really good time on the Bugs/Millie ride. We actually followed two sets of riders tracks before us in the snow. They walked quite a few sections of snow goodness, left at Molino somewheres. We continued on and made it down to town 30 minutes before sunset. Trail conditions were absolutely gobsmocking! Thursday's night camp at Catalina State park was interesting. For awhile the air was marine like, kind of warm in the upper 30's. Then about 1am, the cold air arrived in minutes, followed by a bit of rain.

There is a big difference between ripping and skidding.
