Always a good time. Nancy and I will be there.

I hope SDMB (SONORAN DESERT MOUNTAIN BICYCLISTS | Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists) will do their awesome rest stop again.

I can't believe I'm missing this two years in a row for my knee. Hasn't this gone on long enough?! I'll be sure to make my donation anyway.

Chad, what does it mean to bring your own meat?

There will be fire and grates for cooking meat (or veggies if you are so inclined). Basically, you'll be able to cook yourself a hot lunch/dinner to go with the post ride beer. I found foil wrapped trout to be particularly tasty.

It'll be mid December after the semester. Recovery should be shorter and easier. Although, I went OTB wicked bad last night on the canal and my shoulder is jacked. I'll be off the bike at least a week or two now.....

If I get them all in this year, then I should be good for 5-10 years crash/mechanical free. Ripsey has now become quite questionable.

Is there camping near the Pistil Hill Trailhead? I will be coming down from Phoenix.

Same question here. I notice Colossal Cave has camping but the park is locked up at dark. Not very festive I think. I have camped on the road to Papago Well before but it is a rough one. Any other options? I might just splurge for a hotel but I'd prefer to eat, drink then crash in the desert nearby.

I just checked my Arizona gazetteer and that trailhead is on State Trust land. So camping is allowed.

Technically, you need a state trust land permit (but nobody cares... really) or a hunting license to camp there. If you have a hunting license you have to be actively hunting or scouting. But since I am always on the lookout for animals , so I am always scouting... So, my hunting license is good..

Is there going to be a semi common camping area maybe? I'm still holding off booking a hotel. My wife and I almost never stay in hotels but since it is our 25th anniversary weekend maybe? Then again for the cost of a decent hotel I can get a couple of new tires.

    Try Hotwire.com

There are usually some good hotel deals near the airport - which is not. far from pistol hill.
We got a room at Holiday inn for $50.

Silly question, but where do I look to see what shuttle I signed up for? Thanks in advance.

Can anybody recommend any other good 2-4 hr rides (not any harder technically than AZT) for my wife and I to do while we are down for this?
