Anyone riding the Barn Burner this year?

I'm wondering if the 104 cowboy solo category might be fun.

Could be. How much do you like dirt roads and how much do you like Leadville hootenanny?

I don't like dirt roads, but the idea of completing over 100 miles sounds appealing. Then again, if the course totally sucks, maybe it wouldn't be worth it.

After last year...no thanks. I know they are bringing in water trucks, but the vibe changed. I don't know if that was due to the miserable conditions or leadville people taking over the event.

did it a few yrs ago. Course is pleasant, but not exceptional. If you just want 100 miles, there are certainly more scenic ways to do it. But this is relatively mild in terms of surface and elevation. Cant speak to the vibe change, but not surprised. The event has gotten pricier compared to its first year.

I want to, but I think I have a root canal scheduled for that day. I'm really looking forward to that root canal.

(BTW, I did the 78-mile cowboy solo two years ago, and I'll never, EVER try that again.)

That is a pretty sweet belt buckle though... Hopefully the four peaks beer garden (makes the race much more appealing IMO) will turn the vibe around. I'm thinking about it...

^^^^ exactly. If ya want 100 miles on dirt, go here (https://drive.google.com/?tab=wo&aut...TdOdzAtMjQ5cTg) and download the file, "CasnerDirtyCentury". Way more scenic, way less dusty, way cheaper.
Heck, I heard they graded the BB course so smooth this year people are gonna ride road bikes.

Last year was like a Leadville info-mercial. Prior years were better with regard to the 'vibe.'

i am willing to give them one more year. i go for the good times and "free" beer. our camp has 5 teams racing out of it so we make our own good time. i do agree though, last year was just a leadville advertisment, took a lot, if not all of the arizona prestige away form the whole event.

Please tell me they didn't grade the already smooth course. I'm fine with the dusty course. The horribly dusty venue and drive to the venue was the problem.
