    Amazing Aug morning at SoMo

Thanks to the weather gods for turning on the A/C for this morning's ride! It was delightful which is not something said for too many August mornings in Phoenix. Plus, the relaxed pace and stormy lighting were perfect for taking pictures. Enjoy...

It was awesome out there today. Grave and I rode Pass Mountain this morning. Cloudy the whole time, nice little breeze. One rain storm blew through on the climb and soaked us. PM is usually chunky, but since the rains it's absolute gnar out there now.

Ya...Geronimo and 24th/Mormon are also uber chunky.

But you gotta love it this time of year...when mother nature reasserts herself and puts some teeth back into the trails that us humans keep sanitizing.

    Thx...Doug

Yeah, I saw your thread. Amazing how much stuff changes. We rode Mormon/Natty up to the waterfall on Thursday and I was amazed at the changes mostly on Mormon. Pass Mountain was way washed out, both the climbs and the backside descent. Typically, once we hit the saddle we can really bomb the descent. I noticed the speeds were a lot slower today with so much more exposed rock. Still fun, just in a different way.

Oh ya...I forgot Cardiac Hill on Mormon...wow has the lower half of that trail changed! I almost didn't recognize it going up. With the loose dirt it was a PITA because it was hard to keep from spinning out...and now with nothing but exposed rock it was a PITA because it was hard to keep from getting hung up. I guess you can't win on that one.

    Thx...Doug

Exactly. My typical route on the lower portion of that was completely obliterated.

Spent my awesome Saturday morning on DC, breaking in my new El Mariachi SS. Um, pay no never mind to the mega brake hose, it's been shortened.

I made it out around 6am on the Single Speed right after it rained on DC and it felt like riding through slush with all the wet sand. Got 2 flat tires and the third was a patched tube that started to leak. Still had a good time. Had I known it was going to be quite cool this morning, I would have loaded the FS bike up and rode National. Looks like you all had fun.
