The event that started it all is back and it's back with a new name! This year, it's the TORCA Mountain bike Pachanga. What's a Pachanga you ask?
PACHANGA Spanish /paw*chong*guh/ (Noun)
1. Party or Bash
2. A gathering of mountain cyclists in the Santa Catalina mountains to revel whilst shralping, camping, and imbibing.
This year we are pulling out all the stops and are adding more fun to the mix. Starting with a Freeride Friday sponsored by Guerilla Gravity. These guys based out of Denver, make awesome AM as well as Dh rigs and they are bringing them out for you to shred Aspen Draw.
Then, on Saturday, well have the 3rd Annual Poker Ride and Demo day and we're bringing out even more manufacturers. In addition, this year, you'll be able to take out the bikes on the Poker Ride to ensure you ride as much as possible on as many bikes as possible.
Lastly, we'll have the Inaugural "Funduro" on a Tucson favorite " La Milagrosa". This creative event takes the edge out of racing and make's it fun for everyone. We take everyone's time down the trail and then average the times. The riders whose times come closest to the avg time, WIN! Don't worry all you Strava chasers, we'll have prizes for you too!
Just like last year, we'll have food provided by Risky Business and brews from Borderlands Brewing.
TO SIGN UP,
> First, you must be a member(on the day of the event).
> For a limited time, you can visit TORCA.org and Pre-register. With your donation, you'll get a limited edition TORCA Pachanga Silipint that we'll gladly keep filled for you all weekend. The preregistration will likely sell out based on last years attendance, so don't wait! Visit torca.org right away and sign up!
All proceeds go to helping us keep trails nice and tidy for you and help us work to get you some new ones too!

Gordon Hirabayshi will probably fill up fast but right down the road is molino basin camp ground. Molino has about 35 camp sites. Plus if you camp at sites 33-35 you will be right by the prison camp trail. We will have a shuttle running from Molino to Gordon all day on Saturday. So if you need to go back to your camp you can easily get back to the demo area. Molino is a nice second option plus if you want to have a little more privacy molino camp ground is your best bet.
The only tip that I have if you are a beginner is bring some pads. The rocks can be sharp on the mountain. Better to be safe then sorry. Hope this helps if you have any more questions please feel free to ask

Open registration has begun and there are a still some spots left. Beer, sick bikes(7 manufacturers this year!), food(no weenies and burgers, good stuff), shuttles, crazy good prizes & camping. To sign up, email torcainc@gmail.com. Remember, you must be a torca member to attend. You can sign up at torca.org. It's worth the dough and you're supporting trail work in Tucson! Cheers!

Looking forward to this. So Gordon Hirabayshi is where most of the festivities are? I'm planning on getting there early Friday afternoon to get a camp spot. Is lunch/beer provided or available for purchase? :)

Also, heard it snowed up there, will Friday's DH rides still go if there's snow on the ground?

Hey Pack. Lunch and drinks will be served on Saturday only. There is a great restaurant at the bottom of the mountain called Risky Business. There's also a great cafe/bakery and a mexican restaurant. In the same plaza as a safe way grocery store. Risky business is one of our supporters and they have a great beer selection. They are onTanque Verde and bear Canyon, one light west of Catalina Hwy.

Gorson hirabayashi is the base camp for Saturdays events will be staged there. Camping at GH was almost full as of last night but there's plenty of part of camping at Molino basin campground which is the campground just below Gordon Hirabayashi. I have a call out to the owner of Mount Lemmon Ski Valley to see what the snow conditions are like up there if any. Stand by.

UPDATE on Freeride Friday. Just texted the owner of ski valley. He said he will be arriving to the top in about 45 mins and report on whether the gate is open. If we're not at Aspen draw we'll be at Palisades to shuttle bigelow and kellog. 130pm with Guerilla Gravity
