24 Hours in OP Roll Call...

So, how many of you remembered to sign up last night? I did, but found out there were still solo spots available as of 7 a.m. this morning. Will be my 4th or 5th solo attempt, and hopefully my last. I'm shooting for 200 miles.

Solo and SS again. Only goal is to stay on the bike. Too early to talk about weather?

I ALMOST signed up for solo last night, but wimped out.

I am going to dip my toes in the water doing Solo at the Prescott 6er, 12 hrs of Fury and McDowell 60 & D2D events before trying the 24 HITOP solo.

In for Solo SS...goal this year is 12 laps, after doing 9 and 11 in my two previous solo efforts.

Solo as usual, but no single speed this time. Never ridden the course with gears, and always felt envious of the people blowing by me on the flats.

    And, I'm getting old.

Now if only I'd been more creative at 12:01am this morning.

My "team name" ended up as this:

Well, there were a few spot still open tonight, so I took it as a sign and registered Solo Gears.

    What have I done!?

Solo gears here. Third attempt at attending - registered twice before.. Once solo once duo. Had to cancel both times for work.

Either third time is a charm or three strikes I'm out.

    Back, baby

I did OP in '07 and '08. Complicated life and (ex) GF kept me from coming down from CO ever since. Got myself up at midnight MST the 1st and grabbed a solo spot.

(EDIT: And it appears that solo male is filled--not showing as an option on the site now.)

Gears or SS? Haven't decided yet. Probably will have to do with how much fitness I manage to stagger through winter with. Probably gears though...

    See you'uns in February!

Hoping for not the kind of weather the day before that we had in '08:

I think there were people who would have bailed out on it Saturday morning if we didn't all know that the Willow Springs Road would be a crazy slippery gloopy mess. Then the clouds literally parted as we lined up for the start. First lap was messy, but by nightfall the course was a ribbon of velcro. Turned out to be pretty sweet.

Thanks Chad! Probably just be around for 4 or 5 days, but plans aren't definite yet. A shower and some of your legendary carne asada would be killer! You going to be riding at OP ?

Signed up for a slow Duo team. I remember the snow year, it was a blast and the next day was perfect. Snow is far better than the big rains. ****, now I blew it. sorry.

OP is a great one to test the waters. I did 24 Moab as my first taste of 24 hour racing (4-man). OP has a much more mellow vibe and the course is way less intense. Even now after all the 24 solos I've ridden, I can imagine the beating I'd take trying to do laps at Moab without a break.

I'm stoked to be heading back!
