We're gonna need to see your NRA card first.
Just kidding. There's lots of (dis)organized riding going on up here. You can check out COPMOBA (http://www.copmoba.com) or FMB.com (http://www.fruitamountainbike.com) for some general info, or come into one of the 6 shops in the Valley. There's 3 downtown, about a block from each other. Also a block from the brewery. Coincidence? I think not.

.
I'm sure I can forge one...
Thanks for the links. I've ridden in the area several times and love the trails and the surrounding areas.
My GF is going to start here residency at St. Marys in June and I'll have tons of time to ride.
What is the winter riding situation? Are there any open trails?

screampint 03-10-2004, 09:28 AM Winter riding.... Hmmmm... This year it was awful, but normally we ride on dirt pretty much year round. Right now the trails are prime!
Scary Mc 03-23-2004, 01:47 PM It's definite now, the GF got the St. Mary's residency! Anyone know of any 3-bedroom houses for rent in the d-town area? I can't wait to get there!
On the downside... I broke my rht. scaphoid (wrist bone) while riding on Sunday, so no riding for 6-weeks... :(

Sheeet. That's no reason to stop riding. There's a doctor in Fruita that custom fit my cast to my grips.
Oh yeah, here (http://www.gjsentinel.com/classifieds/content/classifieds/index.html) are the classifieds from the local paper.

Thanks for the classifieds!
Seriously, the Doc molded the cast in riding position? What bone did you break?
I'm in a temp cast/splint until the swelling goes down and I could beg the Doc to do the same for me..... I'll keep my fingers crossed!

The Scaphoid. I've broken it twice in the last two years, so I'm about do... [Knocks on wood]
A good cast is better than body armor. The doc had me bring in my whole bike that time, but just taking your bar/grips works too.
The bone really is imobilzed and well protected, most docs won't have a problem with it. If it hurts don't do it, but don't give up on riding either.
On a side note: My motorbike had the same grips as my MtBike, and the cast stuck to the throttle downshifting into an alley. I got tossed, but landed ON THE CAST, so I was ok.

Many, many thanks! I'll buy you a beer or three when I get to GJ. :D I've been freakin' out at the prospect of not riding for six-weeks!
I spent some time riding there this summer and fall so I could check the place out and found that I really dig it.
I'd like to find a good sized (3 bedroom & a garage)rental house in the d-town area for myGF, me and the two pups for not more that $1200 per month. Think thats possible?
screampint 03-24-2004, 08:26 AM ooooppppssss!
screampint 03-24-2004, 08:29 AM She's molded casts that way for a few folks. Or at least one more than Mr. singletrack.
screampint 03-24-2004, 08:30 AM Well, the beer should be cheap. Singletrack can be bought for a mere Pabst.

Naw, I'll make the Texan buy me a Shiner.
